I went shopping yesterday and bought all the kids a onesy each from primarni, fully expecting the 12 year olds to refuse to wear them, but they did. Apparently they are fashionable for teenagers! So hopefully that means I can keep the heating off for much longer :D I am now very tempted to get one for myself , but aside from the fact they are not very flattering I think dh might think i've gone bonkers :rotfl:

Get him one!! My DH doesn't feel the cold. He can be sat there in shorts and t-shirt and i'm wearing pj's, dressing gown and my snuggie!

Up early today so thought I'd try something new for dinner - macoroni cheese. I am 37 and have never made it :o Sooo easy and cheap to make , if it tastes ok we will have it more often.

I've never made it either! Is it time to resurrect this classic?

I remember wearing my 'jumpsuit jammies' when staying at the caravan as a kid! Super warm but no good for in-a-rush-midnight-wee's!

Mmmm, I love macaroni cheese!! I know some people put it in the oven to 'bake' after it's been assembled, but as the pasta is already cooked, as is the cheese sauce, I don't bother with that bit & it still tastes good to me. It's nice with a tin of tuna mixed through it as well & some slices of tomato laid on top & grilled for a few minutes.

I am round a friends for dinner tonight so won't get to taste my cooking efforts!

I've just checked the accts and wish I hadn't, I had a mini splurge yesterday in primarni on the onesey's and jeans and a top for dd, plus a shirt from debenhams for my dad's birthday this week ( mums is next week, it really is an unbeleivable month) and I am BROKE

Everything more or less is bought on the cc and cleared in full the next month, I can start using it around the 11th/12th usually , or a day or so earlier if I can get away with it "pending":D The budget is £300 a month for all food/ petrol/ clothes/ presents etc. with sometimes a small top up from my earnings.
I should'nt even be using it yet and have spent £113 already.
    Bu**er :p

The £5 a day thing is still going ok for food, but a lot is coming from the cupboards, it just would not be possible otherwise I think. If we all ate the same it would be so much easier as well, I wish I could "starve" the kids into submission - eating what is cooked or going without, but they would go without. Dd is taller than me and a size 6-8.

Oh well off to raid the freezer as surprise surprise none of them eat macoroni cheese.

They are a right pain my lot!

I have done something drastic and cleared the rest of the 0% cc from the isa savings today  So my previous plans have been changed yet again :D

    back later with another update.

I have checked all the accts, and we still have £1000 overdraft that will be cleared next month (we can only do this as we are IO on the mortgage) but that aside, we are debt free, well CC and loan debt free! :D

I felt as if thing were going slowly and worried about the saving for the loft or op the mortgage dilema. We had £1000 in the isa but still owed on the cc the same amount, and the temptation to spend the isa money on helping do the kitchen/ xmas etc. was a bit worrying.

Most people on the mfw boards seem to be grown up sensible people capable of saving money, but I don't think that is me quite yet :o

oping the mortgage and clearing the debts has gone well for the last couple of years though, and 3 1/2 or so years ago we had a mortgage of £171, 000k ish and debts of 25k +. So all in all although we still have not managed to save and often get carried away spending (dh's 40th :p) we are now down to just a mortgage of £147,448.

It could have been very different if I'd not joined mse. We were getting into more debt at a rate of about £10k a year and dh was earning probably £8k MORE than he is now, where did all that money go as we don't have much to show for it!

Anyway, by means of celebration I am taking back the 2x shirts I bought the other day from debenhams for a refund, as mum re-bought them for me with 20% off and the difference (£9) will pay most of the cost of a onesy from primarni that dd insists I need. :rotfl:

Ps. had a fab trip to local tesc* express and got lots of super cheap bread and fish cakes 14p each etc. yellow stickered , so am still hanging in there with the £5 a day budget.:D

Hi NG, I agree with PP, it is worth looking back. You have done amazingly well in the last 3 years. Please keep posting your mortgage total, it's good for me to follow someone who owes only £500 less than me.
