Not much to report on making money at the moment, I transfered £10 from the halifax reward accts to the mortgage op's.

This is about the 100th plan I have made in the last 2 years since joining, so whether I stick to it remains to be seen.:rotfl:

Can you open a 3rd account? We have 3 - shhhh!!!

I hadn't thought of three cath!

I've clearly got too much time on my hands as I have put in the figures to see what my mortgage balance would have been if we had not borrowed more against the house over the years.

purchase price 2001- £120k, mortgage of £93K at around 6 %, monthly payment of just £599 over 25 years, balance today would be £67,213, not the massive £148k ish it is now.

Anyway, enough dwelling. I need to think of 40 great present ideas, big and small for dh's birthday (mostly v small :D) I was thinking of a combination of 2 ideas from the special occasions board, the 1st obviously is the 40 presents idea, the second was having 12 envelopes with a monthly treat for the next year.

Ideas so far for the monthly treat:
    • weekend away dec -already booked
    • cinema tickets-orange weds
    • pub meal in evening
    • night at the dogs with kids
    • indian takeaway
Thats it so far, so any other suggestions welcome, although indoor ones with the kids at home will be put further down the list as they are driving me a bit crackers :rotfl:

Hi NG, have you looked into Permaculture? The basic principles are applicable to all sizes of gardens and all climates... might give you some good ideas :)

hiya, i have spent the last couple of days (or maybe week or two) reading your whole diary!! I like to do this whilst also popping in and out of other threads...have to say it makes a great read reading them all in one go....if not a bit confusing with so many numbers to take in all at once!
Anyway, just wanted to say keep going, you are doing great and I will be using lots of tips etc picked up along the way!

I am shattered, I've done a whole days work for dh from home, been to the inlaws, been to the shopping centre to get a dress in the sale for dh's 40th (for me not him :p), and cleaned the car out inside.

There is still lots to do before we go though, dh will be at work for every spare moment up until we actally leave and probably taking calls on the way there as well no doubt.

I have not checked the accounts lately so need to make time for that before we go away, I am considering going back to the using the cc system through the month again instead of cash as I seem to be in the OD a lot more, and so many things are bought online which means constantly tryig to balance it all and remembering to save up the money to pay in the bank when the card has been used.

Anyway, back later when more organised :D

My accounts have gone to pot since the start of the school holidays ~ I really must sort stuff out later today (during normal waking hours :o) as I'm starting to feel a bit 'out of control' spending wise ~ it's far too easy for money to slip through your fingers when the kids are off.

When is it you go away??

Hi Pink poppy, what are you up at that hour for !! We are going away tomorrow.

All accts are sorted but I will have to get up early to do all the acct transfers when dh's wages go on tomorrow as we are overdrawn. I have OP'd £100 today :j We are taking £80 a day away with us to cover everything including petrol, but I have 3/4 tank already. Its a bit more than I was planning but we are going to go to dartmoor zoo (the one in the film we bought a zoo) and the aquarium at plymouth, so need a bit more this year.

I still have a ton of stuff to pack, so I better get a move on.:D

    I live in Devon.

You will love the Zoo. It is totally uncommercialised and a little tatty around the edges but that's why I enjoyed it when I went. Felt a bit sad for it though.

Plymouth is very nice - get down to the Hoe or Barbican.
