Thanks everyone, I'm really looking forward to the zoo and have bought a copy of the film so my parents can watch it the night before we go.

Back from devon yesterday, but have only just got the internet working-torture after going without it for a week :D

We had a nice time, weather was quite wet though and the kids moaned about the days out a lot :(, they would prefer to be at home apparently! Anyway, washing is all done, I just have a mountain of ironing which I refuse to do unless it cools down.

I have also got to sort out the accts as this morning we went to the diy store and used the 20% off code and bought some new worktops/sink/2 extra cupboards for the kitchen this morning. Not really planned for but it really is dire in there. It was a close call as to whether we bought all new doors etc as dh wanted to but we resisted, they still do the same white gloss doors that we already have.

Hope everyone is well, and will try and catch up on all blogs and diaries if the bloomin internet hold out.

I love the idea of the 40 presents. Good luck staying off the wine, I only ever have the odd glass now maybe once a week or so but really look forward to it!

Here's a good birthday idea I heard somewhere.

Print out cards or postcards with the numbers 1 to the age of the person on the front. Give the cards to family and friends. Ask them to write memories or nice things about the birthday boy/girl. And finally, ask the friends and family to post the card back around his/her birthday.
    Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120
    MFiT3 #86: Reduce mortgage from £146,800 to £125,000
    Mortgage Sept 2014: £135,500, MF Oct 2035 Peak July 2011: £154,000, MF July 2036

Hi newgirly - weather wasn't brill in N Devon ast week, either! :D

I did 21 presents for DH's 21st (we met when I was 14, he was 15) It included smaller things like a set of books wrapped individually (that took care of 5 presents!) a red eraser shaped like a Ford Escort (cost £1.10 :D) (he had a red Ford Escort at the time) to a new suit

I have to say that I numbered the presents and made him open them in order - which he found tedious and it was very time consuming - can't imagine how long 40 presents would take! I've thought about doing it for his 50th (not until 10/2019) but am more likely to get him one big present if I can (I have an idea, I just need to find it (and save for it!!)- but I do have 7 years...!)

Hope you manage to find 40 presents - I think (in the end) my DH was pleased with the idea and liked the little presents as much as the big ones

Hi Greent, hope you had a good time last week, I have got quite a few already or him, but I am trying to stick to just a few silly jokey ones and more edible/drinkable ones , as I know he will appreciate them more, I wanted to get him a dinky toy of the car he wants but they were about £20 so left that idea.

Peonie, they postcard idea is lovely, but we only have a small amount of family and friends it might be a struggle :p I was thinking of writing down something myself with the kids in a notebook or putting little notes in with the presents.

I have to say that the whole thing is maybe a better idea for ladies, I would love it if he did this for me, not 100% sure he will enjoy it as much, oh well, me and the kids will :rotfl:
the presents will be numbered as I've booked a weekend away and want that to be opened last.

Cath and SSS, I was drinking a couple of glasses maybe 3 times a week, and it seemed silly to be trying to diet and still doing that, and I am an all or nothing kind of person so read a book my dad had which is supposed to put you off and its worked so far! Hopefully I wil save a bit of money to op as well:beer: Oops! inappropriate smiley :rotfl:
