I seem to be drowning under a mountain of washing and ironing at the moment, I thought I'd re-pack for our trip to devon next week after sorting out the cp's washing, but due to the rain it just has not been drying.
The kids have changed from fairly sensible responsible hardworking school kids to six week holiday sloths! Its a fight to get two of them out of bed in the morning, likewise to get them to get dressed some days, there is no point unless we are going out apparently
Later today we have the car repair guy coming to look at the damage done, I am pretty nervous about the cost.:(MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hope the car repairs aren't too costly, how frustrating. I've toyed with the idea of CP, my children are almost 4 and 10 months so will wait a couple of years I think. The problem with going on holiday is that it's a snowball effect and once you've been you want to go again!!
Whereabouts in Devon are you going?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
HI cath, we are going to salcombe in the south hams next week, we have gone with my parents nearly every year since DD was 6 weeks old. CP's is great, but just sooo dear, hang on as long as you can!
The car dent guy has just been and said its too big a job for him to do as it needs a new wing, I asked what would happen if it was left alone and he said nothing. He offered to try and push it out to make it look a bit better and cleared off all the red paint. It now looks like it has car cellulite on that bit :rotfl:
Anyway , have decided that I would rather have that than pay out a fortune to get it made perfect again, irritating as we only bought it this year but its 4 & 1/2 years old and we will not be trading in or up again for many years unless something else goes badly wrong. To be honest I would much rather have a new stair carpet than spend it on the car given the choice.
He did'nt want any money for doing it , so I insisted and he said give me £10 for petrol, so I gave him £20 to have a beer as well, just shows there are some nice people out thereMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I cant believe the bus company cant tell that one of their buses had an accident. They know what bus numbers are on what route at a given time and if it damaged your wing and left paint that would show on the bus.You probably have already tried but ring them again and say that leaving the scene of an accident is illegal and try and push for them to right the dama:)ge even if its in their workshop.MAKE £2022 in 2022 no 29 £2022/£434.10

Hi nto, its spooky but I replied to you hours ago and its gone!
The woman at the depot said they will not admit liability unless the driver goes to them and admits it. They have sent the forms through but want all my details (ins etc.) which I am not keen on doing as it will go against me when re-insuring even if its not my fault. As there is very little chance of them it going in my favour, and no witness's I've given up.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Not much to report on making money at the moment, I transfered £10 from the halifax reward accts to the mortgage op's.
I have mucked up the banking and £470 was accidently put into the isa, plus the holiday spending money is in there. As its a great rate 4.25% and obviously once I take it out it is gone from that years allowance, I've decided to leave it there.
Next months money to clear the cc will now go to the OD to cover those amounts. SO the cc won't get cleared until october.
Another change of mind is I've decided to save instead of OP for the moment, probably until the rate ends in 2014, which hopefully would mean getting to around £20k with very frugal living monthly and any extra odd pennies still going to the op's.
We now know we can't move until we have great business accounts for 3 years, and thats not going to be easy, it could also be impossible to re-mortgage. At least this way we will have a bit put by if we want to do a loft room/kitchen in the mean time. In 2 years we would have saved 2/3 's of ewhat is needed, if not we can still op it I guess.
This is about the 100th plan I have made in the last 2 years since joining, so whether I stick to it remains to be seen.:rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

I have had a very lazy day so far, pottering around and reading lots of self sufficiency blogs.
There are lots of blogs on city or surburban self sufficiency, but I've yet to find one doing it in a garden space 16 x 19 ft, and that includes play space for the kids. Maybe I should start by planting a few smaller things around the house and see if I manage not to kill them first.:D
Back to the list which has been missing since the kids broke up from school:- tcb claimed and op'd 24p
- made a big batch of laundry gloop with lemon soap
- NSD
- have not used the car
- last night bought 5x tesco cereal and tea bag deals (640 tetleys and about 12 boxes cereal) for £30, then got just over £23 off filling the tank up for our holiday friday.
- frugal week ahead living off tea and sugar puffs
- Still no alcohol drunk
