HI, why don't you try longer term? it will reduce the standard monthly amount and should mean you have more deals available, and since you can make 10% OP on most mortgages anyway you could just decide how much you want to overpay yourself.
Personally, I would go for 2 year offset fix from the above - because when your OH self employment income increases you will kick yourself for not taking advantage of really good rates!:pDebt: [STRIKE]-£77.299 74,209[/STRIKE]-£72,860 Projected MF date(age):[STRIKE]2044(63)[/STRIKE] 2029(48)

hi weronika, thanks for posting. I am applying for mortgages over the 25 year term not 10 year to help affordability already. Its just very bad timing at the moment hopefully things will pick up in the future, a few years ago we were offered a £230K mortgage when on less money than now and some banks are offering in the 70k's now, crazy.
I had a good shopping trip yesterday and bought myself some new pj's and a bath mat from primari, I know how to spendThats the only problem with being mse, it takes the joy out of shopping a bit, I seem to have an off button that stops me buying whatever i fancy now, I think its called common sense, I used to love going out for a big splurge!
Still trying to decide what to do about our centerparcs holiday in july, £160 paid and £400 odd to pay, should I change it and just go with dh earlier in the year (cost around £160 + £90 to pay) the july break is for 3 nights and is a week before our devon holiday which my parents booked for us all.
The kids are not fussed either way apparently (spoilt lot!) but have said they woud like a caravan break in norfolk where we went a few years ago, I could get a caravan break for a weekend from £88 upwards depending on the weekend, so doing both would still be cheaper than CP in july, but I would feel guilty not having the kids there even if they don't mind.
I think I will see if there are any other cheaper weekends in the year, I did look for easter weekend and its £899 for 3 nights in the basic accomodation, they are nearly all sold out :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Morning newgirly
I know what you mean about not spending,i was never the worlds greatest shopper nut i dont like buying anything now...
We decided last year not to book any breaks longer than 1 night away, even the the £9.50 ones. It would always come to it and we would be worrying about spending money,or OH would decide at the last minute not to go.So until things improve we are not having proper holidays.Which is sad i like my holidays but this current economic climate is not good . I would love to have done something amazing this year because all my family have milestone birthdays. OH WILL BE 50.DS 25,DD1 21 AND DD2 18.
Hope your well and enjoying school hols.

I know what you mean, we never have as much money to spend as we would like! Last year my parents very kindly booked a week in devon and paid, we had already booked a week (paid deposit and ferry) to the isle of wight and when it came to it we ended up cancelling it as we could'nt afford both.
looks like a similar thing this year really, the centerparcs thing was booked a year and a half ago and I've already changed it once.
The hotel deals are very good sometimes, devere are doing £19 rooms at the moment and some of their hotels look quite luxurious, with us it usually works out cheaper with the kids to do a caravan break though as we need so many rooms, plus the cost of eating out vs. cooking yourself.
With so many important birthdays this year can you do a weekend away in a hotel for you all?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

I've been to a De Vere Hotel in Chester & seem to remember it was nice (had a swimming pool) & the grounds were lovely. £19 for a room sounds like a good deal'A watched potato will never chit'...0

A mega busy weekend this week, we have been all over the place, shopping, visiting inlaws, football etc. I am shattered now, I've not even transfered dh's wages from friday yet.
I have lots of work to do this week , a deep clean for one of my dad's BTL's which always end up being much dirtier than a normal clean, work for dh and a filthy house of my own to sort out. Today I am meeting mum, aunt and gran at the local shopping centre as I do every monday morning, I like going but am soo busy at the moment it would be nice to have sometime at home to relax and mooch about online.;)
Tomorrow is D-day at the bank for dh's business  If it goes well we could be getting another massive mortgage :eek::eek: it looks like dh will have to buy out all the staff's shares to have a chance of saving the business by buying the property. Its very long and complicated and rather scary, as you might imagine another mortgage is not something that i look forward to, but we don't really have any other option other than dh and staff possibly jobless. On the plus side the stress of it all helped me lose another 1 lb this week :rotfl:
All will be clearer soon hopefully!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Gosh it does sound hectic and stressful your end!
Well done on the wt loss tho(though hoping the stress is shortlived for you!)
Enjoy the shopping centre- hopefully a chance at least to chill out with a cuppa or 2!0 -
I've been trying to be a bit more mse today, I managed to get DD 3x pj bottoms and 2x pj tops in primarni today for £1 each.
The slowcooker is full of aubergine and pea curry to use up 3 large ones i bought last week,
3x aubergines
1 med onion
a cup of frozen peas
1 jar value (mr s ) curry sauce
will probably add some chilli powder and spices to taste
It smell good but i have not made it before, so we will see.
I've also made a pan of brocoli and stilton soup for dh. Its about time i made more of an effort I've been getting lazy lately.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Its the big day at the bank for dh today, although we may not get a definative answer straight away, he is so nervous !
I need to re-do the monthly budget ds1 has a new contract phone , although he is paying for most of it from his pocket money. Plus seen as we are 99% staying with our current mortgage provider when our deal ends I won't HAVE to clear the o% cc by may when we apply. Its on 0% until jan 2013 so I might stretch the £3235 balance over the rest of this year so its cleared by dec not june, although its nice to get rid of it it seems a bit daft paying interest on the mortgage but clearing the 0% debt first.
Cleaning has been postponed until next week as dad's tenants have not left the house in a good state so it needs a few few new windows first. So i've made good use of the time and asked my friend for a jog  well more of a walk with the odd short burst, the last time I ran was probably at school sports day a fair few years ago, we have decided to go the the local country park so we don't see anyone we know while out in town.
Will also meet the girls for lunch to sort out the rest of the details for our friends 40th and hopefully catch up with some of my ironing.
Some good news is I have had £40.40 cashback payout from dd's blackberry she got for xmas, bad news is ds1's mobile showed a cashback of £60 when i ordered it at the weekend although its not tracked yet, now the same thing has a cashback of £111.11 on a special limited offer- typical!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
