Glad you have managed to sort something out for your friends birthday that she will enjoy and won't cost a fortune, it's often hard to get the balance. I'd never manage an hour a day of exercise so well done for giving it a go.

I've had a busy week, managed to lose 3lb when weighed by the personal trainer yesterday which was a nice surprise.

Have also been doing lots of talking with dh sbout the future of the business which is the cause of most of his stress I would say, after a couple of years of everything up in the air work wise, it should be getting sorted out the early part of this year, but it won't be pleasant with his late bosses' wife its already taken quite an unpleasant turn which I can't really go into at the moment. Both personally and in business it seems she was not the person we thought she was.:(

Goodness only knows what the future holds at the moment, so I am focusing on earning as much as I can and using some of it to op as that will be the only op's for some time I think.

The little angels are now off for a week, and dh has booked a rare day off , but we have no plans yet. I fancy the camping and caravan show in london , kids go free and it only £7 each. This will not be a popular choice with the kids though, however they do get to do what they want most of the time so I might be a bit selfish.:rotfl:
I should have spent thr day cleaning, but instead have been on the phone to dh (fretting about the business) and online trying to work out the finances again. Its probably not worth cleaning too much when they are all off though as it will only get messy again!

We were all naughty last night and had a takeaway, it was really nice though, dh and I split the cost so it only cost a tenner.

Today I am hoping to go to the huge antique centre a few miles away, we used to go every now and then but have not visited for years, its my birthday in a few weeks and I really don't want anything, dh will probably go and buy something from the shopping centre that is nice but i don't really want/need so I thought i might see something a bit quirky for the house, I would'nt mind an old fashioned phone or something like that.

I want to try and keep busy and get out and about , so we are not stuck indoors all weekend, hopefully less likely for the kids to bicker and dh to to be a grumpy watsit.:D Although we do have the inlaws round at some point today, so i really should go and clean up the house.

still clearing the 0% as fast as possible, hopefully it will be gone by the time we re-mortgage, I had a look at the norwich and peterborough websire and their brand new 10 yr fix I was hoping to get the other day ( which they said will be around for a while) has gone already, so no chance of that, oh well!

Hello, thanks for popping in we did go the the antiques place sunday, and even dragged two of the kids with us under protest, they managed to buy some football memorbilia and we did'nt get anything.:D

After untold hours online, I have decided to quit looking at mortgages. The amount we can borrow is less and less everytime I check. Yesterday twice i was offered £72K and we currently owe £149K. I think a lot of places go on affordability adn having 3x kids really reduces what they lend sometimes.
DH having shares seems to be an issue now whereas it was'nt in the past, so if we go down as him being self-employed not employed we won't get a mortgage at all.

The upshot is i am going to stay with the chelsea, but need to decide how long to tie in for. The longer the fix the more it cost obviously and the issue is we will have less chance of changing provider in the next few years as dh will be self employed with rubbish accounts (hopefully not forever)

The options are for a £148K 10 yr mortgage:

    3.29% 2 yr tracker £405.77 (£1449)
    3.39% 2yr offset fix £418.10 (1455.90)
    4.19% 5yr fix £516.77 (1511.83)
    4.29% 5 yr offset fix £529.10 (£1518.91)

All I need now is a prediction of future mortgage rates so I can decide whether to play it safe or go for the cheaper option.;)

newgirly, I wasn't sure what the figures above relate to?? Is the figure in brackets what you would pay each month?? What is the figure before that?? Apologies if I'm being dim :o

With regard to the prediction ~ yep, it would be nice if we had that elusive crystal ball!! :rotfl:

I think it's probably a wise move to stop looking at switching if you feel you will be refused on affordability factor. I toyed with the calculators and our lending has dropped since having a second child.

Are the figures in brackets payments with interest and the ones before it IO? Are there any arrangement fees involved?

Let me know when you find that crystal ball!

Hi cath and pink poppy, the figures are repayment and IO. When you see it written down it looks shocking really, dh's wages are £2091 per month, so it is a ridiculous proportion of it going towards the mortgage.

I am tempted towards the longer term fix which does kill me to think about having to pay more, but our svr is 5.79% with chelsea so they are not one of the more reliable ones to stick with if rates do go up in my opinion, we could be stuck with them unable to change provider.

3 years ago we were paying 6.99% with them before I started thinking about oping, so I suppose that puts it a bit more into perspective, we have been sooo spoilt with low rates.

Its a nice sunny day today here for a change, I've taken the dog out and I'm taking my mum and the kids to the shopping centre soon for a mooch about for an hour just to get us out for a bit.

They have been quite busy this week , cinema with dh (orange weds), round friends for lunch and we have been to the local country park.

Its my birthday in a couple of weeks and I am debating whether to book a night in a hotel for me and dh without the kids, de vere are doing a room only offer for £19 per room per night in some places, I'm sure my parents would have the kids if we asked, I fancied going to oxford as we have never been, might buy her a coffee and sound her out later.;)
