I am sick to death of finding my car damaged

I'm going to stick my neck out here, and wait for the inevitable put-downs, but I've found at least a partial solution, which I've used for the last couple of years. I've bought some big, thick, magnetic strips of rubber, called by their tradename "Dinkbars." Yes, I know, stupid name, and they look horrible, but they have saved my car on countless occasions. I have no connection with the company, if it is still trading, and I'm sure that I will be ridiculed by some as going over the top, but I'm quite unrepentant. My last car looked awful by the time I got rid of it, battered to pieces, and so far not a single dent in this one. It won't last, of course, but they have certainly helped.0

I only go to Waitrose (lots of late reg expensive cars
) or at a push, Sainsburys. 0 -
Over the years I have driven both new and old cars. My old cars have been the target of the carpark bashers.
One car which was a grey/green colour could be parked at the local supermarket, and when I returned it always had a ding in it. Once it was parked on it's own, I was away 5 minutes, came back to find some a**e had gone right along the side of it with a white 4x4. The damage was collossal. No-one saw anything. That car was the worst for it.
I now drive and old swedish built car. A nice drive but it too is a target for every carpark basher. It's covered is dings/scratches and a myriad colours of paint from the guilty party's car. Not once has anyone left a note. I look after it. Washed and waxed when I have the time, but it's not a great example of a car even when she's been washed and waxed. I do get irritated when I find yet more paint on the bumper where some fool has used it as a guide into or out of their space. The back bumper had been popped at the side, it was then popped at the otherside by a dinger, then it was walloped again, and the bumper was pushed back in at one side. So maybe it was a lucky bash!
I was unaware that certain folks parked their cars away from others for the variety of reasons given. I just never thought about it. But have noticed on many occasions a space only to find the huge 4x4 on one side is parked at an angle crossing into the space leaving not enough room to park a car in the available space. I have also noticed that there are a minority who seem to think the rules don't apply to them. They park their status symbols anywhere they want, including right at the door of the supermarket/venue etc. I never fails to amaze me how aloof, arrogant these people are, happily locking their "pride and joy" and staring at the people who are looking aghast at the audacity of it all.
I always ensure my car is straight in the space (reginald molehusband) and there is enough room for the person in front to get into the boot of their car.
I wouldn't dream of hampering anyone from parking where they want to park or parking so close they can't get into their car. I'd just park elsewhere. I'd never park where I'm not supposed to, disabled spaces or parent and child, double yellow lines etc!
Some peoples behaviour on the road as well as in carpark just beggars belief.0 -
Just an update...
Found this morning that someone has been sick or put something down the side of my car over night...

...and that's after paying out to get another huge dent sorted after a hit & run after the dent which happened in the original post!

I can't imagine how annoying that must be, can't really tell from the photo if it has damaged the paintwork but the car seems to be kept in a good condition which will make it more irritating for you that this has happened.
Also if you don't mind me saying - I'd suggest you remove the sat nav holder if you leave it stuck to the windscreen overnight - sadly you'll get the odd moron who will happily smash the side window to try and get at the sat nav that their tiny brain thinks must be in the car.0 -

Thanks for that, yep I usually leave the sat nav holder in the car all the time but the sat nav is not kept in the car. From tonight I'll take the holder off too! It's not as if I use the sat nav every day either.

Sounds like you need to change address Lee:(
Good advice about the sat nav, the little scotes will break in for anyhing, my mates window was smashed for £2.50 in the coin tray:mad:
Not always much you can do tho'. A friend some years back used to park near Leeds university every day, after 3 break ins he resorted to leaving the rear parcel shelf out, didn't replace the stereo, and even left the glove box down with a card accross it stating; "there is nothing of value left in this car".
A few days later some clown smashed the side window, turned the card over and wrote "Just checking" on the back of it

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
My Mum had her number plate called in tesco almost 2 years ago when she had an ancient tank of a car (G reg Toyota Carina) which was absolutely covered in dinks. An old boy had knocked it and gone into the shop with her reg number to give her his insurance info. My mum was astounded, especially given the state of the car, and told the old boy not to lose any sleep over it because if he hadn't said she wouldn't have noticed! Poor bloke seemed quite upset so she took his info anyway but never claimed.
So not everyone is a hit and run maniac.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Im astounded too, it's normally the old one's who think they can just get away with it because they're old.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have an old(ish) L reg celica that I bought about 3 years ago in fantastic condition. It now has grazes on all bar one corner with 2 dented wings, all of which were done outside my house by idiots who can't drive, the car's white and not often dirty so hard to miss really.
Came back to it the other day to find a tyre mark on the back bumper from an obviously blind cyclist, I hope it f'in hurt. :mad:0
