I tend to park at far end of crap parks where they are less busy, supermarket car parks tend to be worse places.

A little thought and care by some would avoid this problem, like holding the door when you open rather than fling it open. Unfortunately some people dont give a damn

I now use tescos home delivery - well worth the £3 or so they charge.

You don't want to do that at my local tesco. They pick out the earliest expiring stuff that no-one will buy and send you that, so most of your order will end up expiring tomorrow.

Have the same problem when buying stuff there in person. Have to reach right to the back of the shelf to get anything with some life left in it, otherwise your weekly shop will have all gone off by Tuesday.

At Glasgow Fort I sometimes park at the Morrisons car park and walk across when it's busy, not a bad walk and you avoid the frustration of driving round in circles trying to spot someone leaving. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=glasgow+fort&sll=55.870213,-4.133005&sspn=0.002986,0.010943&ie=UTF8&radius=0.21&split=1&rq=1&ev=p&hq=glasgow+fort&hnear=&ll=55.869881,-4.132394&spn=0.002986,0.010943&t=h&z=17

I was thinking only last week, when I was parking in a multi-storey, that i'd actually pay a bit more if they had bays with wider spaces. Then you'd know that the other people parking there were like-minded and more prone to be careful.

Usually I have my mum with me though and she has a blue badge. I joke with her that it's the only reason I take her with me. :D

Also the people who drive crap cars and are incompetent, know they are incompetent and pay for the wider spaces just to make their life easier.

That said, I'd pay extra for spaces that have metal barriers between them.

At multi stories I find there's usually an end space with a concrete pillar right next to it that is hard to get into and thus few people park there. It's usually in a good position on a low floor and protected by the wall on one side and pillar on the other.

Normally, if I'm in the good car, I just try to park between two cars that are more expensive than mine and well looked after.

Ive found through experience this can be even more dangerous as in my area people with big posh new cars dont have the skill to drive them properly, let alone park!

I'm disabled and have a blue badge, and so manage usually to park in the nice wide disabled only bays at the local supermarket. Room for a 747, or so you'd think....

.... BUT I still managed to have my rear lights broken and a huge scratch left by the big blue mercedes parked next to me, when the old bloke driving it manouvred out of his (also very wide) disabled bay. I know, because I watched it happen from the supermarlet window!

Very annoying, but as my car is 15 years old I took heart from the fact that it only took a bit of black tape to fix my rear light, and the scratch doesn't really show among all the others. Adds a bit more character, that's all....

My car made a hell of a mess of his big blue mercedes though - broken lights and big dark red scratches all over it !!! What a shame, I couldn't stop laughing.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    :D
  • Older drivers seem to present a big problem these days...

On my way to work thismorning a very elderley gentleman was doing 15mph in a 50 zone, which i considered quite dangerous as EVERY car / lorry / motorcyclist was overtaking him...

I always use the "park between two new cars maxim - but the ******** times Ive come back and found one has gone and a 20 year old hand painted Fiesta is now in its place :( and so close that the driver must have shimmied out between the cars - no doubt with a big buckle on their belt

Obviously you have to pick your choice of cars wiseley. Range Rovers and their ilk would be bad choices.

I was thinking more of enthusiasts cars.

Also old cars that are in really good condition work too. I felt quite safe parking next to a very shiny looking E-type Jaguar a while back, though I bet the owner had a heart attack when he came out and found a manky old Volvo estate parked next to it.
