Booked the entire holiday through 2bookaholiday.com but did not realise these were only a booking agent so flights are with Thomas Cook (which will be refunded) but we stand to lose £800 on accomodation! Surely they have to do something?
If you book flights and hotel through seperate companies it won't be ATOL bonded, if you have booked them through the same company and they are bonded you need to check that they've booked it with the ATOL bond and then you should be covered0 -

Thanks for the reply.
My airline Ryanair changed the flights free of charge, its the agent Sun 4U Direct who are charging the admin fee. Apparently it is not a package? I had assumed it was right up until a few days ago. Is there nothing i can do? My insurance wont pay out either

Did you report them to ATOL/ABTA?
No!
THAT's why they get away with it - if no one reports to ABTA/ATOL etc then they know nothing about it! ! !C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

I am more than willing to do so, I'm going to lose about £600, it doesn't sound a lot I'm sure but its mammoth to me, its four years worth of scraping the barrel!
How do you go about doing it? And what good will it do. The money looks as though its gone, but I love to see the company.
I've just found out from the hotel in Spain that they haven't been paid for the room, and will not be unless I go. So Sun 4 U stand to make from my misfortune whichever route I decide.
It wouldn't have been so bad losing the money if it was going to the right place, but the fact that the agent who has basically done nothing gets to keep the money... disgusting0 -

What r you agent actually charging you for? changing the hotel0 -

Changing the dates of the hotel, from this week to next week (hopefully). £25 per person (party of 3). They also want to charge me £20 per person for amending the transfers (the transfers cost £38.80 return for the 3 of us initially).
I know I might sound a bit 'whiney' but I just wanna go on the holiday I booked albeit a week later. I know the volcano isnt their fault, but its not mine either. If their were some costs involved for them, I wouldn't mind so much, but I cant see where they are, the hotel has rooms available, the hotel hasn't been paid for this week (i enquired about such), I informed the transfer company that I would not make yesterdays teatime transfer on Saturday night, as well as the fact that the transfer company is owned by the travel agent so presumably there is no cost there. I just wanna be treated fairly, and when I think I am not een (like in this scenario) I would like to think I could have my voice heard (by the agent) but it feels like I cant. Only worsened by the fact that they will not discuss such on the phone and on average its taking 3-4 days to get a response by email.
sorry for the rant0 -

1 name and shame the company here and now - save others from loosing and cost them some profits as people wont use them if they see your story.
2, The website/shop etc should display their ABTA/ATOL numbers.
3. Go to ATOL/ABTA website - you can enter the number - there are clear instructions for how you should complain.
4. You may not loose out - being ATOL/ABTA members they agree to be held to ATOL's or ABTA's decisions and if those agencies rule in your favour - you should get your money back. ATOL and ABTA say that you should use their members for your protection, well let them protect you!
Nothing else I can really help wiith unless you post some details. But try the above first it may be what you need.

The company is Sun 4U Direct https://www.sun4udirect.com . Its been a shambles from the start to be honest, but I wasn't bothered about the lack of confirmation/communication, I got to the bottom of things myself. But now I stand to either lose my money or to have to fork out a not inconsiderable sum to attempt to have the holiday I have already essentially paid for, I am wanting to have something done, if I cant save myself at least I could prevent others from the shabby treatment.
I shall follow you advice it is hugely appreciated. Thank you.
