Stuck in Qatar in the middle east at the moment. Its shocking how little help is provided. Emirates are outside of the UK so will only offer to rebook the flight to a later date. Feeling the financial strain like everyone else.
    Merry Christmas MSE!
  • HI,
We're due to fly to \Egypt on 23rd (my birthday!) for 7 days.

Im insured with a work insurance policy via AXA and they have stated they wont cover. :(

I booked flights with airflights.co.uk (with flythomascook) and think i'll get a refund from reading the links,

But i booked the accomadation with teletext holidays and its looking like i wont get the pennies back from them as it would be just a cancellation!

    Booooo!

Pretty much the same situation as me, due to go to Egypt on 23rd April. Booked the entire holiday through 2bookaholiday.com but did not realise these were only a booking agent so flights are with Thomas Cook (which will be refunded) but we stand to lose £800 on accomodation! Surely they have to do something?

I cannot for the life of me afford this, is there anything I can do?

I understand there are people stranded out there with bigger problems than me, but I've saved for 4 years for this sh*tty little holiday! Should I take a hit on the money I've already spent and lose that or fork out what i believe is an extortionate amount of money that I cannot afford? I honestly do not know at that point where I will find an additional £138 from, which I will then potentially have to pay out again should flights be cancelled again.

Please offer me some reassurance that there is a way out of this for me?

  • hi, I have booked return tickets to China through expedia, the flight will leave on this Friday, I hope by the time there will be chance to fly away.

But, if the flight is cancelled, although my ticket is "non refundable", is it possible to get refund from expedia?

any one has some idea about this? thx!
  • Well my airport hotel was non refundable... but having spoken to them coz of the circumstances they will refund me... now thats good service!! :) its always worth asking!

I phoned travel agents but they said they have 3 hour updates , im suppose to travel friday cant i just demand a refund or do i have to wait until im told.

Because i cant be expected to be told on the day of departure as i need to arrive early , i also have a car arranged and also someone has took time of work to look after my pets ...i need to let my friend know as she is coming long distance and as kindly taken time of work to do this... to be honest sooner just get a full refund instead of keep checking for updates all the time.

Hiya, I work in a local agents office and we are only being updated day by day by tour ops as to whether clients are flying or being offered canx free of charge or amended travel arrangements, tour ops won't just let you canx free of charge at your say so you have to wait I'm afraid.....it's the same with all the ops we deal with ...... everyone is in the same boat hope this answers your question ....fingers crossed it all gets sorted soon and you get your holiday.:)

:beer:Great! I hope I can have your good luck.

OK, I'm trying to get through the hot service call of expedia now.

If your flight is cancelled by the airline they should either offer you a alternative flight date or canx free of charge, at least that's what we are finding with our clients (travel agent)....I don't know how expedia work

Which company/airline is this, I work in a travel agents office and all our ops are changing/cancelling flights on a day to day basis at no admin fee....unless it's your agent is actually charging you the admin fee.
