  • Can anyone advise...

I am stuck near Malaga. What would be the best route via train, I need to get to Durham. Would it be Barcelona, Paris then Eurostar to London?

My daughter is in the UK staying with her paternal grandparentswhilst I visited my Mum in Spain. My sister is in North East of UK and 3 weeks off giving birth. I am her birthing partner as her hubbie is stuck in Iran working and she has been getting some pains - not yet labour but sounds like it might not be far off. I don't want her o go through labour alone and would like to find alternativ travel to the UK to be on safe side.

    Any advise would be great.

    Thanks

with all Eurostar travel booked up you might try to look at ferries. The Rotterdam, Ijmuiden terminals might get you home faster even if they are the longer way

Hi ... look at this website .... http://www.seat61.com/Spain.htm#Malaga

suggests you travel by train to Madrid, then catch the trainhotel to paris ... see http://www.seat61.com/Spain.htm#London%20to%20Madrid

or aim to get to one of the French ports & go across as foot passenger - St Malo / Dieppe / Caen etc .... not going to be easy cause I think some french trains on strike.

    Good luck

Hi can anyone advice me on the best course of action?

I am staying with friends in Turkey and due to fly back to Manchester from Dalaman tomorrow with Thomas Cook Airlines. I can't get through to Thomas Cook by phone today and I have had no contact from them by e-mail or text (I accept that they probably can't contact me about flights tomorrow as they don't know themselves yet).

My concern is that I am three hours from the airport. If I am going to be delayed, I am better staying put here with friends than going to the airport if I then have to find a hotel if my flight is cancelled. To be honest I have no pressing need to return to the UK so my situation is not desparate and I can extend my stay with no problem until things stabilise, but I just need to know how to find out the relevant information (I am an independent traveller so don't have a travel agent or tour rep)

Thanks to anyone who can advise

    Daisy

    Hi,

If you are not due to fly until tomorrow, you should know before you leave whether you flight is going or not - I would suggest you keep an eye on the Thomas Cook website .... that should be upto date.

Looks like planes are at least grounded in the UK until 01.00 Sunday.

Ryanair routes to/from UK are still all cancelled until Monday afternoon.

This is what NATS are saying:

They're saying on their webpage that they'll contact you if your flight's cancelled, and aslo that if you are flying tomorrow - to keep checking the webpage for updates. I imagine this is beyond their control and they're unable to tell yet whether or not if they'll be allowed to fly.

Be prepared though - many other airelines have cancelled all flights until Monday.
  • Easyjet in Barcelona are now refusing to provide accommodation but are telling passengers to get their own. They will not say if there is a limit to this reimbursement and the only answer I can get is to email them to finance for approval!! Do they really think everyone is going to do this? Is this there way out of paying for accommodation?
Surely it would be better to provide some buses to start to bring them back.
I am really struggling to get any info on buses or trains out.

Has anyone tried redeming there Euros back, the travel agents are giving a crap rate and my son has lost nearly £100 of his holiday money  and has not even gone anywhere. Should they be giving back the rate they was bought at due to circumstances, he put half on one of those money passport cards in euros and half in cash. Think the travel agents are now profiting from this.
