Bridezilla moment - my OH2B wants to spend £500 on a designer suit! That's more than my dress! And I have to bite my tongue to stop me saying 'but you'll probably never wear it again'! :o

He's already bought one suit which was less than £100 and he was happy with that. Then he went looking for a shirt to go with it and ended up in Ted Baker buying a shirt, that cost more than his original suit, and falling in love with this new, more expensive suit!

Want to stamp my feet and throw a massive tantrum - but then have to remind myself that he can look good too! :p Just not too good!
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.

I havent really had too many mad moments but today I went all irrational. I've been really casual about invitations. Everybody who's invited already knows they are, I have a wedding website they've all seen and several have already booked their hotel. I finally got my backside in gear a couple of weeks back and hit Vistaprint and sorted out designs for invites, evening invites, place cards and thank you cards. I went ahead and ordered the invites and place cards, and have got DS1's girlfriend ready to write them for me (she has lovely writing, mine looks like a drunk spider's climbed out an inkpot!). The place cards arrived last week (with little envelopes for them that I wasn't expecting) so I gave her those. I won't be going over near her house until next week at the earliest, and I haven't even confirmed the names with her yet. But today the invitations arrived...without envelopes!! They've mixed up the order and sent envelopes for the place cards and not the invites. I've mailed them to get the right envelopes but in reality it doesn't matter...I havent given out the names, nothing's written, she won't even get the invites until next week. So why oh why am I feeling so wound up that the envelopes aren't here when nothing would get posted anyway!!!

I'm a Bridezilla and my confession is....

When I said my BM's could pick their dresses, I expected them to know about the brides power of veto.

If my mum suggests I scrap getting a photographer and let my 18yr old cousin take the photos cause he's on a film-making course one more time I'll secretly photoshop all her pictures to make her look blue and tell her those are the ones the cousin took.

I'm afraid to talk weddings to MOH since she shouted at me for having a "perfect life" and ran off crying. :(

I'm secretly annoyed that MiL2B is demanding to invite her work friends to our reception (none of whom OH or I know) and when OH suggested that they come without their husbands she flatly refused. Our venue is small and our list is at capacity - why do we have to cut our friends from the wedding to invite people we've never met!

When I tried on The Dress and my mum said the shoulder made me look like I had a parrot on my shoulder I considered getting a peg leg just to jab her in the ribs

After booking our photographer and paying deposit, I demanded we find another when he updated his website to plug his new christian rock musical and bbc screenplay, saying he didn't seem "committed" enough to wedding photography!

All this from the person who said they wanted an unfussy wedding, and all that mattered was that people had a good time and the groom showed up! :D

a little back story - my brother has always been into photography, hes spent a lot of money on his hobby and has taken some stunning photos, he is one of the three shutterbugs i know who will be at my wedding who im relying on to take some great snaps as i dont have a proper photographer (well... i do have someone, a friend of a friend but i dont really like her and would rather not have her there, especially after she just dropped my friends booking out of the blue and told her to chill out theres plenty of time to find someone else  so understandably i dont trust her anymore)

well i found out through facebook in the last few days that my brother has set up a new business as a wedding photographer....

he hasnt mentioned it to me, you know... his little sister who is planning a big wedding on a tiny budget, scrimping for every penny and could probably use a decent photographer that she trusts for the bargain price of FREE!

he hadnt even mentioned this "business" to our mother either who was actually more miffed than me that something so big was going on and she didnt know about it first.

i dont expect him to give up his rights as a guest to become a member of staff on the day, but at least a message saying ill take some pics for you if i can use them in my portfolio etc would have been nice.

    humpff....

Luckily I haven't been so bad but as I am only a week into planning its to be expected. There was been a couple of Bridezilla moments especially when we went to book the venue for a year in advance to be told that the place was shutting down this Sept and as its the only suitable place in the area it may have upset me a little (read 'a lot'). So now it has been booked and I have 4 months to plan a wedding that was luckily meant to be a small one. Unfortunatly it is turning into a huge one now.
I have a huge fear that the Best Man is going to get drunk so may have to put him on a limit. He has a habit of getting drunk and stripping off and I don't want to be cleaning up his ripped under wear from all over the room like last time. He is harmless, but is a complete lightweight.
Also I have instructed that the stag night be 3 weeks at least before the wedding as I know what his friends are like. If they could they would drag him off abroad (if he had a passport, I won't let him get one until after the wedding incase this happens) and leave him there, at least three weeks gives him enough time to get home.

Luckily that should be it as we are having a relaxed do Though knowing weddings it could just be the start of something.

My bridesmaid lives in Beijing, so I have sent her a picture of my planned flowers to match colours. She is the only one, so she can choose the style.

Anyway, so she and her 'dress designer' are off for a weekend trip to Shanghai to choose fabric, and then the dress will be made and fitted over the next few months. All for probably less than £100, including travel! I'm very jealous! Although happy for her of course. :)

My dress was off the shelf. Feels the wrong way around! It is almost worth flying over. ;)

oh yay. Thought I was doing really well this afternoon and then boom!!! something goes wrong again. Went to find my driving licence and birth certificate for going to the registry office to give notice and they aren't where I thought they were. Now I am kind of wierd in that respect that I like to know where everything is and be super organised and can't work out why they aren't with all of my other important documentation. One strip search of the house and they still haven't been found. I am not that worried about the licence as I have to reorder it anyway as my photo card needs updating at the end of the month anyway, but my birth certificate I am peeved off about. I have had it for 26yrs and its never been lost before, so why disappear exactly when I need it. Looks as though I will be ordering a new one tomorrow.
Also realised that after visiting the venue tonight that they had shown us the wrong room after we got home. We were wondering why it looked so small and there was no way we could fit 80 guests in there. Turns out it was the room they have for 40 people. Now not sure whether we saw the wrong room or they wrote down we were hiring that one. More phone calls to be done tomorrow.
Also the bloke that is meant to be doing our entertainment (an associate from work) orginally said that he would play for expenses (fuel, drink and a feed) now he is saying he wants £250! Looks as though we will be using our own disco equipment.
