:rotfl:I have done similar and forgotten it's my mum's birthday this month and I've kinda already allocated all my money elsewhere! Hmmmmm do they still make good stuff on Blue Peter? Perhaps I could get some ideas of something I could make her .....:rotfl:

lastminute.com have just saved my backside... again! :o

You could make cupcakes or cookies for your mum? I always used to do that as default. Or do the cookies mixes in a jar type gifts :)

My mum is awful to buy for - she only ever wants that hyper expensive silicone face grease from Boots. :(

spent the most wedding orientated weekend at home (with out the H2B lol)

ended up going to two different florist (both 16 miles in opposite direction from my home so i spent alot of time in the car) one was brill the other it felt like she really didn't want my business.

i spent an hour with one talking flowers and colours and she made me totally re-think my bouquet but the one she showed me i just fell in love with and gave me a rough price list for the things i said i wanted.

the other spent 10 minutes with me, shoved a "price guide" in my hand told me to go away and look at that and if i booked them it would be £100 cash deposit and then we'd talk about the flowers.

lol i wanted to stamp my feet and say your not taking my wedding seriously and i did a mini flounce out of the shop back to my car thinking well you've just stuffed up mrs!

guess which florist i'm going with? :rotfl:

something i've really learned with this wedding malarky is that some people don't really want to talk to you till money is involved and others know how to make it feel that they want to be involved in your big day and are so helpful.

it was the same when we were looking at venue's as well!

at least my "wedding weekend" got results and i'm feeling tons better about things and no longer want to kill my H2B, although he did come in at 1.30am on saturday morning drunk and sooooooooo chatty he nearly died then but i got my own back heading waking him up early before i headed down home :rotfl::rotfl:

I have just told my mum and dad what H2B and I have chosen for our coming back down the aisle song, to be met with "you ARE joking?" "what a load of s**te" and other such comments.

I am so mad! Its not a conventional song, but its a song that H2B and I both love, and its a song that we both sing a long too. We are having it regardless, but it their reaction just upset me.:(

I've decided I'm better off not telling my mum stuff. She lives 250 miles away and really seems like she just couldn't care less...the only time I do seem to get some response from her is when she doesn't like something.
I rang her to tell her my venue choice and there was a VERY long silence and then 'well if that's what you want I'm sure it'll be lovely' in that tone that is screaming 'are you off your head, I cant think of anything worse'. I took her to the zoo to show her the actual venue - the beautiful manor house, not some shack behind the elephants fgs - and arranged to meet one of the wedding planners so she could feel involved in the discussions. She actually yawned and spent half the time staring out the window.
When I told her I wanted to wear a purple dress she shrugged and just said 'well if thats what you want'. When I told her later I'd changed plans and it was now silver, showed her the fabric and sketch, she just said it was an improvement on purple...no comment on whether it was actually nice or not
I showed her my BM dress - its a short (a little above knee length) Cadbury purple dress from Coast, very pretty silk chiffon one and as BM will be just under 17, slim and with legs to die for she will look lovely. My mum's view...'why cant people wear proper bridesmaid dresses any more...why spoil it with short dresses like that'
I played her the music I'm walking in to which is a lovely arrangment of the bridal march - so it's kind of traditional but with a less 'heavy' feel so perfect for my smaller civil ceremony. The verdict? 'It's OK I suppose but for me you get married with organ music'
She daren't comment on my main signing the register song as OH wrote and recorded it for me and I'm not daring to tell her we will be walking out to either 'Let your Love Flow' or 'Higher and Higher' as the idea of pop music will be too much.
Oh and she's also said she might just go back to the hotel rather than come to the evening do if it gets loud with bands and discos
    And breathe.........

Haha. I think a song about an aroused man part is strangely appropriate for a wedding. Plus it's a nice happy song and it'll make everyone smile.

haha!! Its the "best of all, Ive got my baaaaaaaaby" bit that we like the best, and it is quite a happy song, hence why we chose it! I am not telling my parents what we decide for our signing our register song!

No one knows any of our songs! In fact I don't really tell anyone anything! I like Paolo Nutini and think we might have Candy as first dance....

    I sometimes think the same.
There are a few things I'm mentioned to my Mum that she hasn't sounded too impressed by.
But bless here, she isn't a MOB-zilla, and I'm trying not to be Bridezilla too.

Mum is very traditional, though, and I'm making sure that I find her some traditional bits to do during the planning, so that way I can sneak in less traditonal things (like coloured shoes & arriving on a TukTuk!)
