I've just had my first bridezilla moment(s)! Went dress shopping yesterday (and got one, yeah) but when I took out my purple peep toe shoes to try on with it (after using an ivory sample of theirs) the shop woman said 'you're not wearing those for your wedding are you?' Eh, yes I said! She advised me to get an ivory pair as people's eyes would be drawn to my shoes when I walked - I said I'd probably rather they looked at my feet than my face, ha! Now I'm scouring the net looking for cheap but decent ivory shoes cos I feel like I should!
Then, I showed my sister who went with me yesterday, a pair of ivory sandals off ebay and she turned her nose up at them. Then my other sister who is supposed to be making my cake asked me if I wouldn't prefer to buy one from M&S or somewhere already iced - she's not confident of making a fancy cake - I DON'T WANT A FANCY CAKE! So I ended up saying she needs to tell me whether she is making it or not as I'll need to budget more for another cake - I was paying her to make it in the first place!
Oh to have got married on a beach in Barbados as originally planned........0 -
my sister wore bright red heels under her traditional wedding dress - they were great, and were worn again too (very MSE!)
mine are silver and white with bright pink soles... I think purple shoes are fab and will show a bit of your personality!
good luck with your cake dilemmas!fran-o0 -

If you want purple shoes, wear purple shoes! Don't let anyone put you off doing what you want! We've had loads of people tell us how we should do things so I'm just not listening to anyone now!
Anyway I bet purple shoes would look fab!I'm just wearing quite plain shoes because I'm a short ar*e and my dress is so long that no one will see them anyway :rotfl:

As for sisters-I told my sister that the BM dresses we have chosen were number 6 in a "top 50 BM dresses" thing I read (on this forum!), which I thought was great, and a really good sign..she responded with.."how common".
I'm with you...oh to have got married on a beach in Barbados!!0 -
Oh, I forgot to say-I'm wearing red sparkly shoes for our wedding!

Thanks guys, I love my shoes (and they only cost £20 new off ebay) and was really excited about wearing them. I've seen loads of brides with coloured shoes and they look fab, the bridal ones look naff to me - although the sample ones I wore were actually quite comfy, ha!
Well spoke to my cake making sister (she gave me a sample of a shop bought cake from a wedding she catered at last week) and I didn't really like it, so I explained that all I wanted was a simple two-tiered square cake, one fruit, one sponge with plain icing and some ribbon and she's happy with that. Think cos I showed her a lovely cake with sugarcraft flowers on it, she thought that's what I wanted. She said she didn't want it to look cheap - I told her it's getting cut up anyway and the cake topper will hopefully detract from the cake anyway.
Ooh Magicboo, red sparkly shoes, very Dorothy!0 -
Oooh purple shoes with a wedding dress are gorgeous !! My sister did just the same when she got married a few weeks ago, and they looked amazing getting a flash of colour every now and then !0

i managed to get two pairs of shoes off ebay for under my £50 limit my first pair is a sensible ivory pair and my second pair are funky iron fist shoes (purple with ice cream cones for heels!)
here's a thread i've put up before with pictures
definitely think you go for what ever colour you want don't let anyone put you off!0 -
Love those shoes Gandy!
Well think I will try and get an ivory pair for during the day (cheap ones of course) and wear my purple ones at night. I am getting a fab pair of nude Nine West shoes for Christmas which I thought I could wear but I really need them to be the same heel height as the purple ones, cos my dress is being shortened - was told needed the shoes I'll be wearing for the fitting. NW ones will be too high.0
