Feeling a bit blue today. Had my bm and her family over for lunch today and she has dropped the bomb that so far, no one wants to come to my hen night :( I feel a bit put out as these are suppose to be my best friends and I am also paying for them to come to the wedding breakfast etc for a pretty penny and they don't even want to come for a drink :( Baring in mind the hen night wasn't anything expensive, just one night out for drinks.

I think you have every right to be bridezilla about this. That must feel horrible. Do you have any reasons why, maybe it's the date? Could your bridesmaid ask what they would rather do?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I have no idea why no one wants to come yet as she sort of dropped the bomb and quickly changed the subject. I'm going to have to ask her again though.

After spending the last week reading all 142 pages of this thread i still cant decide wether im lucky or not.... My Mum hasnt bothered her butt to even mention my wedding and when i ask for advice i get told its over a year away who cares........My step mum has been fab tho..... and my mother in law has commented on the things i have suggested quite positively :)

On the other hand my sister/BM has been a pain in the !!!!!! i wanted shorter dresses for the BM as my 2 sisters are quite short so a long dress will just swamp them... i also want straps or at least one as big boobs run in the family and dont want them forever halling the top of the dress up! but no she wants a long strapless dress and continues to call me a b*tch for not compromising so i suggested we get the short dress and the long dress and see what we like best but no her way or no way is what she has in her head! (i cant wait til she gets married...all hell will break loose)

she then asked what i would like as a wedding present to which i replied if anyone wants to give me anything some money towards our honeymoon would be great but i dont want people to feel like they need to give me anything so the next day she phoned and said her and her partner had been talking and asked if i would like my wedding cake as a present from her so i said yeah that would be nice so she got a quote for the cake i liked and told me no way cos it was gonna cost her £400 so i said ive looked on M&S and can get a 3 tier one for under £45 and we can just decorate it ourselves.... she was happy at that.... til 2 days later she phoned again you cant get a 3 tier fruit cake for under £45 to which i replied i dont want fruit i cant stand the stuff and everyone thats coming likes sponge cake... no no no grandma wants fruit so thats what your getting!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

sorry for ranting but its OUR wedding day not hers!!!!!!!!

meanwhile my MOH has been amazing... scouring the web, daily phone calls with ideas ect ect ect! i really didnt think i would be a bridezilla but my sister is beginning to push me over the edge...........

    And bbbrrreeeeaaaattthhhhhh

Handed out our invitations and the first 2 invites said "oh I don't like butternut squash soup or potato and leek and I don't like passion fruit so I won't be having a starter or dessert! She then said her son was upset that I hadn't invited his friend with benefits! I said "he's not with her", she said "oh but they are really!" I said well either he comes to the night do and brings her or comes to the day do alone. I'm not spending another £45 for a person I've never met just to keep my neighbour happy!!!!

God my hearts beating faster just writing this out its got to me that much!!!

I'm on a very tight budget and told my bridesmaids that I would be ordering their dresses online. I gave a shortlist for them to pick from with a pretty good selection to choose from. The only thing I wanted was for the dresses to be yellow.

Most of the BM's went for the same dress (it's really lovely.). However, my maid of honour kicked up a fuss because she didn't want that one. So I said she could have a different dress from the list as long as it was in the same colour and fabric. This still wasn't good enough and instead of this I received an email with links to loads of different dress that were nothing like the one the BM's were getting.

In the end I had to put my foot down on the style and she settled on the same dress in a different colour.

    I was ok(ish) with this.

I then asked everyone to check the size chart and let me know what to order/if they needed custom measurements. One of my BM's needed custom measurements and I was fine with paying the little bit extra for this.

It turns out that my maid of honour was the only one not to check the size chart and her dress doesn't even come close to fitting! It's far too small so there isn't even scope to alter it.

Then, despite having been told they were made-to-order abroad (i.e. not cost effective to send back), she suggested I just buy another dress in a bigger size to see if that's any better!

    I cried!

Tell her you'll buy it if she pays for it.

we told our guests our theme on the wedding invite, and told peeps they were very welcome to match the scheme. my sister did the same. I think as long as you say its up to them, but tell them the scheme, then its fine. don't think anyone was miffed, not everyone joined in though
