I always check them, as our local supermarket BOOTHS always rips me off ie has the offers on the shelf but rarely applies them at the tills:mad:

This is just a general thread to inquire about how many of you don't check your receipts for the offers you thought you'd put in your basket.
How many of you actually complain or take back your receipts if you noticed something was wrong, and what has been your response from the store/ customer service desk?

I went into ASDA in York last week and paid for my stuff, then while packing the groceries back into the car i thought that the discount added at the end wasn't enough. I briefly checked for the shower cleaner offer that was 90p each or 2 for £1 and it wasn't on.
I went back in and was asked to show the customer service assistant what and where I'd bought it. She agreed the offer was missed and promptly given an apology and refunded the £1.60 (I had bought 4) and I was happy.

However I checked the receipt again when I got home and realised the offer on the Whiskas senior cat food pouches was also wrong. although it applied a discount and went through at 3 for £8.50 it was advertised instore as £7.50 (regular varieties were £8.50). I haven't gone back with this complaint as it's only another £1, but we all know these can soon add up!

ASDA are certainly not alone with not having offers correctly applied at the checkout, and they are generally very good.
I have had plenty of errors elsewhere at other stores. Some are worse than others!

Any comments and best ways to correct these if you notice after leaving the store.

    Thanks

Asda are very bad for this and I always check my receipt. Also ask for the £2
gift card they give for being overcharged. If they say they dont do it anymore
tell them They Do! its company policy.

Since Christmas Eve I have collected £8 in these cards and am hoping to get my Christmas groceries free.

Big trolley shops are always a pain and sometimes it is only when you get home do you realise the till has mucked up any special offers or bogofs.

I always check, but mainly as I always estimate my end bill far lower then it turns out to be, I get so shocked I look though the reciept. Any offers not on there and I am straight to customer services!

I find our Asda terrible for this and any reduced products coming up as full price too.
Never get the gift card, have'nt for ages they just say they don't do it now.
They're also demons for checking any vouchers and I do buy the product so it's not like I'm trying to get something for nothing.

the sad fact is that to avoid getting ripped off we should always check our receipts - and have a memory like an elephant for all the prices. I try and do this but not being a saint often forget. You cannot rely on any supermarket to get it right, although we will never be sure whether its incompetence or dishonesty that causes misprices.
Likewise to get the cheapest groceries its necessary to cherry pick all the best offers at different shops - you pay for the convenience of only going to one shop with higher grocery bills. Since most people don't have time or energy to shop around, this is one way they make their profits.

Check them every time and have now even got OH checking them too - a very proud moment for me!
I make sure that bogofs/offers are packed near the top of bags as it saves digging about in the trolly at CS.
