I alway check my receipts, Asda is always doing it, the latest one i bought my daughter 2 pairs of those off the shelf reading glasses 2 for £10 the offer was in big signs all over paid at till with other things and when i was walking out checking receipt found they had charged full price £14 for 2 went back got the £4 back and £2 on my card for being overpriced. Not bad i already have £8 on gift cards from them over pricing.0

Online shopping is the worst - makes the receipt hard to check!
I got a £10 voucher off Tesco recently because I had ordered their "2 Dine in for £9" offer and it all got charged at full price - total £18!
I do find Asda customer service quite good, in my local store anyway.0 -
This goes on with a lot of the supermarkets, we've certainly noticed it and agree that it happens more at Tesco than any of the others. We don't have any loyalty to any one supermarket, so we tend to just decide on the day. Obviously if we see advertised deals for items we would be looking to buy anyway then we would favour this place. It does happen and as much as it being irritating and annoying, but it is hardly a heartache to sort out. Strangely enough I had a similar conversation with my Father a while ago where he said Tesco's actions could be considered as theft, I thought it was a bit over the top, I personally wouldn't take it that far, but it is food for thought.
Just to add a little rant, I mentioned earlier that we tend not to have any loyalty to certain supermarkets, but I certainly won't be shopping at Tesco again for a while. Last Sunday, my wife and I (my wife being 8 months pregnant) had to stand a wait 20 mins before we got our hands on a trolley. I should have just left there and then. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt but wish we hadn't.
Also, one more thing, in one thread how many times is the word 'receipt' mis-spelt?0 -
I have to say I've been checking till receipts for YEARS!! Have saved a fortune by doing so.:T
Even if you check the shelf markers you can still get problems but just wait for a supervisor and get it sorted at the till.
If enough people complain at the hold up they might stop employing monkeys to do their data inputting and there would be a reduction in the number of mistakes.
I've had some amazing conversations with senior staff in ALL the supermarkets, including Waitrose!:rotfl:
They seem to work on the principle most people just simply aren't that careful.:eek:0 -
I check my receipt every time - has saved a fortune over the years.
cherylcravo - you do know that if Tesco overcharge you, their policy is that you can get double the difference back (overcharged by £2, you get £4 back)
Asda, if they overcharge you will give you a £2 gift card.
Sainsburys they smile nicely and say sorry.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

1. you should always check your reciept
2. there is not some mass conspiracy by tesco to fool you mistakes get made
3. always read the offers carefully to make sure you get the products correct
4. the guy you mention is there to manage not to eplain offers to you because you cannot read properly
That should be incentive to check your receipt if anything.
(I think their mistakes are just that, not some organized conspiracy to diddle their customers/)0 -
Sorry, I can't tell you if you are being overdramatic or not as I find it so tiresome reading rants that do not contain proper punctuation or grammar.
Is it really so much more difficult to write in full English instead of "text speak"?
I really would love to live some of your lives if the only thing you have to worry about is a mistake in a supermarket.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
wish i can find a lot of mistakes!! i just hope on every shopping trip to asda and tesco that they make a mistake ,, but i dont find any!!
There is a supermarket in Manchester... the Wing Yip... they always make "mistakes".. i do not go often , but each time they have overcharged me by quantity or price , and apparently its a very common error they make ther!! .. think staff have been trained to overcharge ther!!0
