  • I got one of these letters but have not renewed yet because I had some change of circumstances. My childcare ended and then I moved in with my partner. My single claim was ended and forms sent out for a new claim. Do I still need to renew with the specialist number or not?

Who did you renew with the Mainline or the Specialist team ? If it was the Mainline - phone them back and ask if there is a marker on your account - if there is you will have to speak to the specialist team and your payments will not change until you renew with the specialist team.

I did my renewal on the 22 April via the main tax credit helpline number.

I have phoned up today asking when I can expect to receive my final award notice and the lady said they can take sometime to process, she checked and said my had been sent to "the back room" and will be processed when they get to it.

What does this mean? I have always had my tax credits renewed usually within 2 weeks. I have not received any leters or calls from the specialist team, shold I be woried at all, we dont claim any child care, just wtc and ct.

Phone the mainline back - ask them to check whether there is a marker on your account - if there is the chances are you need to speak to the specialist team. I would ask again for them to check your notes.

    Hi caris ,

i renewed my tax credits over the phone on the 24th of april and i am still waiting for my final award notice and worrying like hell. I contacted them on thursday costing £10 on my mobile was on hold for over fifteen minutes and told it is being processed by the tax credits office and they cant say how long it will take. I have never had a problem before. I only recieve child tax credit as i dont work and up untill last week was not able to claim income support either due to maintance payments and has been this way for four years.

Rung again this morning and still no news. I am one of those people that worry about the slightest thing anyway but this is giving me sleepless nights that maybe there is a problem, maybe they dont believe i am single or not working or even maybe my daughters absent father is claiming tax credits for her.

My friend put a new claim in last week as her partner had left and and got a letter in a week. What is going on?
