Numptytoes we had the same! Renewed by post and "ignorned" specalist letter! Received notification from tax credits last Tuesday that we'd be getting an extra payment Tuesday and the new revised payment Wednesday!
  • The latest process Tax Credit Office are following with the Specialist Renewals team is to check all details on the Tax Credit award using the Child Benefit, DWP, Self Assessment and Pay As Your Earn systems to verify the information held. If everything checks out the renewal will be processed without contact, but if there are any discrepancies whatsoever then the change will be applied based on the details held on the relevent system and the renewal processed. Letters will be sent out to confirm the changes made, and giving the opportunity to dispute before the 31st July.

So, am I correct in assuming that even when people have had their final award confirmation for this tax year (either through the ST's or TCH) and are receiving payments, they are still likely to be these checks made on these people. My DIL has received final award and is recieving weekly paments after renewing award through TCH and then a follow-up call to the SP who "pushed" the award through?

Once you receive your finalised award notice for 2009/2010 then you are unlikely to be asked for further information... unless someone has been reviewing your award and has found a discrepancy but this is highly unlikely after it has been finalised.

Thank you TCH, she has received her final award and she checked everything over a few times so is sure she has got everything right so there will be no discrepancies. The only thing she wasn't sure about was that my son pays half of the mortgage (they are divorced) so she was not sure if that was classed as "income" but the Helpline assured her that it was not. You are doing a fantastic job helping people on this thread, so thank you for that, TC's seem very confusing at the best of times.
  • tch does that mean that you should not call specialist team?

Thank you for your help. So won't they need to contact my childcare provider (which 2009-2010 was a nursery and is now just an afterschool club 2 days a week)

Hi TCH - can i just check my understanding of this - they will for example check you have the right children on your claim, how much you earned etc, via the channels you mentioned?

hi is it childcare reciepts for april 09 til march 2010 that they requested from you?

Yes this is correct. As I had never had receipts I had to go back to the child care provider and she kindly trawled through her books and produced an official receipt for me...

We've received our final Tax Credits decicion for 09/10 & our Tax credits award for 10/11 & also our NHS exemption cards. Is this it done & dusted for this year now, does it mean that we wont have to deal with the Specialists until next year???
