I am not feeling good today, almost passed out getting off the bus this morningand felt incredibly nauseous. Had a Danish and cuppa and felt a bit better, managed my 2 hour meeting. Am going for lunch soon then will see how I feel I think. I might just need a couple of days off I was thinking, but I need to check at what stage sick leave triggers mat leave. I’m only 31+2 so I don’t think its yet! With flexi time I can just go home early and do the minimum tomorrow when I’m working from home but I’m already low on my hours and won’t be able to make them up easily before I leave!
Hi Rach - I don't know if this is universal but I think in general, if you go off sick in the last 4 weeks of your time at work it will trigger mat leave. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -

Sorry, moan over, I know a lot feel a lot worse. Am going for some lunch, might have to be chips and beans!
Hope you feel better.
Found this- If an employee is absent due to a pregnancy related illness from the 4 th week before the baby is due her maternity leave starts automatically on the first date of absence. If the illness is unrelated to her pregnancy she can remain on sick leave up until the date of the baby’s birth or until the date she has given as her start date for maternity leave.
If you can think it........it will happen0 -
Thanks all
seems to be the same here with the 4 week thing, so that's no problem. I feel a bit embarassed about asking to go home early now as someone has just been 'joking' how I'm always moaning on facebook about being pregnant and how bad I feel. I just want to go home to bed and feel like crying!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
