no xmas me neither, alot of peoples reasons for not liking it, is its a bigger school with 2 classes in each year and the rough area at the front. But some of the parents at the other preschool are very rough and a bit chavy too, I don't really see the difference so much. I was upset when she got in because they way everyone said it was so bad but the mums I've met have been lovely and she has done so well there. She was struggling with speech before school and it improved so much with their phonics she no longer needed therapy by the oct half term. The reason the other school is in special measures is the lack of a head teacher, its had 3 in the time DD and DS have gone through the preschool as well as acting heads in between each one.

Don the zafira is fantastic, I am a convert. I loved my small cars before but its come in so handy already, will be great for the holiday and we do trips to plymouth quite alot so that will be nicer too.

I bet DS1 settles in just fine bless. I can't wait till both mine are at full time school lol. The preschool did say he was ready for school and he is doing really well for a summer baby. Some people are surprised he goes this year though cos he is a little on the small side. I'm excited about him starting, I'm sure he is going to do really well and he makes friends really easily too. DD is a little shy and happy to play by herself, she is always happy which is the main thing but you always want them to have lots of friends too.

Right I think the washing machine stopped, best go sort it out.

My ds1 was a summer baby too and is skinny little thing - he has only just turned 4. and his brother who is 3 in September is the same size as him and they fit in the same size clothes at the moment, although ds2 will likely need a bigger size again soon. He has friends at nursery but he likes to play on his own sometimes too, doesn't always like being involved in the group activities.

Ofsted reports can only tell you whether or not a school is good at jumping through hoops, they can't give you a balanced picture. I found the best thing was to talk to parents with kids at the school!

Also not every type of environment suits every child.

Well my ASDA order arrived this morning, with the clothes for DD1 for her birthday :D She got a hello kitty outfit, HK pj's, leggings, socks, little monster got a gorgeous outfit and it cost under £25 :j

Twin2 managed to lose her book bag this morning, no idea how or where! It had her lunch in it too so ended up looking all over the playground, waiting for the same bus to come back (it hadn't been to bmth or anywhere near lost property so if it had been handed in the driver would have had it, or it would still have been there) and no sign of it.

so either it vanished into thin air or one of the old ladies really fancied a ham sandwich and an orange :rotfl: In the end i went into co op and bought her some bits for a replacement lunch just in case it doesn't turn up there.

I hope Pigpen is ok, maybe Squeak is making an appearance?

Merfe - We've just bought a zafira too, we had gone down to a fairly small car as dd and ds were getting older and didn't think we'd be needing to fit prams in again lol. Plus it will be easier for our camping trip next week.

I don't know what to do regarding car seats though.
We had a try the other day and it doesn't look like we'll get 3 car seats in though without using one of the rear seats which I wasn't keen on. DS is 7 and approx 135cm, therefore by law doesn't need to use a booster seat, although I would prefer for him to still use one.
Is it best to have him
    a) in the middle without a booster seat (using full adult belt)
    b) in the rear/boot seat with a booster
    c) in the front on a booster and I will squeeze in the middle

    Any advice?

Cheapy booster seats are smaller than the high backed expensive ones, would that help you? I can (only just mind) get three cheap low boosters in my mum's micra at the back.

  • I've been told that the extra seats in the boot should only be used when they are required as these effectively replace the boot so in the event of someone driving into your rear ( Think jeep, bus/ van) children have much less protection. Having been in an accident with a van very recently it would make me think twice.
    Just my thoughts
Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:

Our plan is to have DD in the front when its just me and the kids and use one of the rear seats if all of us are going anywhere. DS is still in his maxi cosi tobi which is a huge car seat, not sure weather to get him a booster or wait for a bit cos he is quite small only just over 100 cm. The middle one at the back is just a lap belt on ours so I don't think it'll get used unless there is 7 of us in the car for some reason. My 206 had 3 proper rear seat belts but oh well. We too had downsized from the 206 to the lupo in feb when we thought we were not gonna get to have a 3rd child, its typical, wasn't very MSE in the end this will be the most expensive baby we have had but it'll complete our family.
