Speed bumps need to be banned! I went to loo before I picked DD up from nursery. It's about 2-3 miles away from my house. by the time I got to the nursery I needed a wee again because of the bloody bumps!!

    Wooooo, Thunder and lightning time.

I'm so jealous of your weather! It's still muggy here :(

I'm with you on the speed bumps too, my bus was running late this morning on the way home so the driver obviously was trying to make up time and hit one of the bumps so hard I got literally thrown off my seat once, and almost hit my head on the ceiling at least twice

At least if I want to evict baby early I know all I've got to do is make small bus trips round my village :rotfl:

I think little monster is running out of room in there, the knees and elbows that are poking me are getting more pronounced.

Pigpen how's it going? I'd rope DD1 into helping with the others so you can have a cuppa and a rest, and here's a dodgy hug:grouphug:, which appears to be MSE's only hug icon!? Do peeps really get into that much mischief here?:rotfl:

did you eat straight afterwards rach? I find I'm normally ok if I eat quite alot straight after, otherwise I get a bit shakey. I'm not keen on lucozade either and it is alot they make you drink.

I saw a green jacket but thought it was a bit boys. The only other thing was a pramsuit but it was out of stock already. If its a girl I've got one though so I'm best off waiting till after scan I suppose. Stupid ebay and nearly new sales, have sold so many baby clothes.
I ate a jam sandwich and had a can of ginger beer, then went out for lunch an hour later and had a wrap, scone and decaff iced latte!

The drink wasn't lucozade, it was like a really thick glucose thing, she said 'i don't know why this trust won't let us use lucozade but they won't'. I was almost sick trying to drink it!
Is so annoying isn't it, I just wonder whether some people are deaf?? Anyway one of my deliveries has arrived the other one was cancelled by the company so no-one told me - one of those days me thinks!
that's annoying! yeah people can be so inconsiderate.

I have just spent my nappy voucher, had a 20% off code for the site so even with some extra bits I have only spent a tenner and got pack of muslins, 2 wraps, some boosters and liners. :D I also want a few other bits but not everything was in stock so I will check back this weekend.

Done with work for today so going to have a lie on the sofa for a bit, said I'd sort dinner for DH coming home

RE: Maternity Leave and Annual Leave Entitlement:

I accrue 20 days annual leave (+ bank holidays) per year in my job. I have taken 8 already and am taking an additional 5 before I start maternity leave. My boss has told me I will then have 5 annual leave days to take off when I return which I can carry over to the financial year. Correct me if I am wrong, but this only amounts to 18 days in total, leaving me with a missing 2 + no time off for bank holiday. Do I still earn the right to take additional time off elsewhere for bank holidays or not? Also, I will end up losing these if I take off 9 months (which I am likely to do) as I can only carry 5 over.
I hope this makes sense! I am so confused after being told one thing from my boss and reading a whole host of other interpretations from various sources.

Can't have a cuppa as got no milk :p

DD1 has just washed DD3's hair for the disco at school tonight... I've had a massive run in with the head and assistant head about DS3... he was told he was not allowed to go to the leavers disco today (he is one of the leavers!!) as he had not taken part in something we had no idea he was supposed to be taking part in.. I win!! He is in the shower as I type.. or he better be or he won't be going!

I have a raging infection.. possibly a UTI/kidney infection given the ++/+++ blood, protein, ketones, glucose, leucocytes and every other thing they test for with a dipstick!! pulse rate of 104 (should be about 65) and a temp of about 38'C.. which isn't too bad but explains why I am so hot! and SPD which I told them I was supposed to have been referred for 5 months ago!! So I have AB's I'm not taking (I end up with chronic thrush which refuses to be treated) and iron tablets I'm not taking.. and 5 vials of blood down! Explains my waterworks issue though.. I always get very watery when unwell.

Baby is 'on the large side' and while not moving is fairly happy, apart from the contractions we are getting 5 minutes apart.. *shrug*

Like I said.. I do not have pre-eclampsia.. I am NOT stupid!! So, HA! and *blows raspberries*

I have now refused to be booked in anywhere, refused to see anyone unless it is on MY terms and I just need to sleep for a 1000 years.

Had an interesting conversation with my boss today. I work from home and he seems to think I can continue to do my work even with the baby at home. I'm not sure, as I need to concentrate on my work, so was planning that the baby would go to a childminder or nursery when I go back to work. Any thoughts from those of you who have children? - do you reckon you'd get a day's work done with a baby in the house? Sounds a bit unrealistic to me :o

However, he also said that he's not too bothered about me working rigid 9-5:30 hours and if I wanted to, say, work til lunchtime then make up the rest of the time in the evening when DH is home to look after the baby he'd be fine with that. I'm now wondering whether I could get away with sending the baby off to a childminder for 3 days a week, I'll work my butt off on those 3 days, then on the other 2 days I'll fit in hours around naps etc and in the evening to make up to 35 hours. It would certainly help financially if we weren't paying for a full week's childcare but I could still earn a full time wage.

The boss also said if I wanted to work part time for a while before coming back properly at the end of my year's maternity leave, based on me fitting in work as and when I can and being paid on a "per case" basis, he'd be happy with that. That way I'd be better off than on statutory maternity pay, but without giving up time with the baby. It would mean I'd become technically "self employed" whilst doing that, but on the understanding that my employed position is waiting when my "maternity leave" finishes.

All of this (apart from my musings on 3 days childcare) were suggested by him with no prompting from me. I think I love my boss! :D

Red Rose, if you work full time, you are legally entitled to 28 days leave (including bank holidays, unless your employer offers enhanced entitlement). Linky here. I get this much. Depending on when your holiday year runs, you'll have used some of your bank holidays already. In my case, I've taken 12 so far and have 8 left to use plus 3 in respect of bank holidays I will "miss" in this holiday year (Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Day), which runs Feb to Jan. Unless you're part time, you need to go back to your boss with this info and tell him to think again!

Any of you know Ebay well??

I've just put up an item up and someone if offering me £20 here & now for it...I think I figured out how to end the item but then what do I do?? Do I need to create an invoice to send to them? If I do, how?
If not do I just give them paypal details??

Arrgggghhhh so confusing :( any help muchly appreciated x

You can put a BIN on the item and it will go through like a normal sale.. and you will be covered by ebay policy.. OR you can tell them to come get it and pay cash on delivery and cancel the listing.. OR you can send them an invoice through paypal and remove the listing once they have paid up... 'request money' tab at the top of the paypal page!

Personally, I would go with the adding a by it now.. just edit the listing and where it asks how much you want as start price there is a buy it now tab.. add the £20 there.

  • If a buy it now doesn't work you can raise a paypal invoice with the buyers e-mail address and when payment is received then you can end the item. I've done this a few times, means you can't leave feedback but avoids ebays 10% fvf as well as the listing fee (very Mse but eBay prob doesn't agree ) and both parties are still covered by paypal as normal
