I was looking for a hospital bag and came across this in Argos. Think I might get it as it has good reviews and alot of people have said they used them as their hospital bag.

OK just read some more reviews and some people saying it wasn't study enough for heavy use, but how heavy are lots of maternity pads anyway?

Aaaagh! I cannot believe it! I have been checking for well over a year for a job to come up that I really wanted to do and it seemed to come up at every location except mine! I had applied previously, January last year to one which was a bit further away and they were keen to interview etc but they said that I needed to have a vacancy at my local hospital as the job needed me to be only 10/15 mins away at most.

checked today and it is advertised for my area at the local hospital! I could just cry because there is no way at all that they will want a 30 week pregnant woman turning up for interview especially as I am already on maternity leave! :(:(:(:(

this is what i wanted to do - http://www.workingmums.co.uk/mums/jobs/1122491/casual-bounty-maternity-ward-assistant-photographerdistributor-northampton-general-hospital.thtml

Definitely apply!! It's really bizarre that you should write this just now, a job that I have been waiting for to come up has just been advertised too. I went for 2 interviews in their department but both times they had someone with more experience, however the head of the department was really impressed by me an called me in for a chat a few months ago (before I knew I was pregnant) to let me knwo they were basically creating a new job - a quality manager post and they were convinced that I would be perfect for the job, it sounded great, so last week he emailed me to let me know that the job advert was now up:( I spoke to the our previous consultant who knows him really well and asked him what to do, so I have literally emailed him in the last 5 minutes to let him know the situation and that I would still be applying as I was still really keen - so fingers crossed - they can't discriminate against you if you are pregnant. FOr me it's still within the NHS board that I am currently in so would still qualify for matty leave etc. I really want this job - it's £8k a year more than I am currently on:eek:

DON, my sister went for an interview on the date she was due, got offered the job and had her first daughter later that night. They would be way too afraid to discriminate on the grounds that you are pregnant!

Nightmare about jobs I have seen a few recently that a year ago I wouldnt have hestitated to apply for but as I get more than stat mat pay from employers have to go back for 3mths so not worth applying for anything now in my case. I am a great believer in things happen for a reason so whats meant to be will be.

Have just ordered some bits from blooming marvellous got myself a pink dress for £12 to wear for my 30th birthday in a few weeks as going away for weekend and also few other bits inc a changing mat with towelling cover for £5, got quite a bit and then postage is £4.95 so cost me just under £40 for what I brought which isnt bad as got couple xmas pressies as well.

Maternity clothes are a bargain on there at the moment trousers from £3, tops from £4, dresses from £10, skirts from £4 - def worth a look

One of the girls on the parent thread applied for and got a new job while she was pregnant. She started when her maternity leave ended :)

    hi all

I'm still at work (since 8.30 this morning) as I'm meeting a friend at canary wharf for food later. I'm flagging now though and might head off so I can have quick a look around the shops before I meet her.

    sammy congrats, she's lovely!

courgette - keep your legs crossed but glad it has woken DH up!

sir monster - oooh, might have to go to boots then if i can face town on sat! I've not been into croydon for months (usually go to bromley if anywhere), went through for the first time in ages this morning to get to the overground station.

My hands are quite swollen and my rings are killing, but i can't take them off til I get home (too scared of losing), think I might have to stop wearing my engagement ring soon :( I am glad nto to ahve to travel home til later tonight as it should be a bit cooler! Only one more day in the office this week, then my GT test thurs am and midwife fri pm so I'm working from home both days.

slightly nervous about meeting friend tonight, lovely lady but not seen her since Feb, she's cancelled a couple of times. They have been TTC for over 18 months with at least 3 mcs, currently having lots of tests. I know that although she's pleased for me it has been hard for her as everyone seems to be pg at the moment. Hopefully it will be a good evening. I feel so much for her, must be so awful.

delain - It does look like that job might actually be maternity/sickness cover so worth checking before you spend time applying!

I would quite like a new job after going back to work as I need to ahve a shorter commute once bubs is here, but like freebie I'll need to come back for 3 months first or pay back the extra mat pay, which isn't loads but still! I am trying to persuade DH we can afford for me to do 3 days per week (pretty sure we can). He only works 9 out of 10 days and is going down to 1 of those being from home and only nominally working but he gets full time pay for it so it's not quite the same, as in if I cut hours I would also cut salary!

right, I've had it here...time for packing up and shopping!

    Hi ladies

I introduced myself a while ago and have been lurking on and off since so thought I'd jump in again! I'm now 23 weeks, everything was great at 20 week scan and we're on team pink! If somebody could update the list for me that'd be great.

Congrats sammy on baby holly, she's lovely. Has kym been on since this morning? Hopefully having mummy cuddles by now.

Oh and I picked up some bargains in boots today - got a tommee tippee sensor monitor for £20 and some baby toiletries reduced from 2.29 to 50p so quite pleased.

Hope everyones well this evening :)
