What kind of things do they talk about? Is it like the episode on friends where Chandler tries to stop smoking and keeps listening to "I'm a strong, confident woman"What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

I found a free Hypnosis download site last time I was expecting here. They offer Hypnobirthing as an option for a free download. All you need to do is register to access for free. May be worth a listen before investing in any packsDS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz

My friend did the hypo classes, sounded like a bit of a waste of nearly £200 to me... however I do have the CD and it's quite good if you don't mind it being really cheesy... it has a load of birth affirmations on the first track which range from nice to just weird ("My baby is descending through tissues which are pink and healthy.... my baby is the perfect size for my body") and then the 2nd track just sends you to sleep as it's relaxation.
I think if you just read up about the visualisation and breathing stuff you'll get the same benefit as doing the classes....0 -

MSE me
I second Smartie, Amazon is good and there is always Ebay. Try your local library too, mine didn't have anything but you never know. I find my CD very relaxing, sends me to sleep brilliantly! The book is good but I havent finished it yet, it kinda makes you realise what a natural process childbirth is and how it shouldn't be a painful or terrifying experience as its our natural instinct to do itwow.. I just thought, I am only scared of the idea of induction, labour doesnt phase me atm!

I recommend Maggie Howell (and a few other ladies on here use her too)
I don't find it too cheesy
You have to remember to have a very open mind and get in the right frame of mind if you know what I mean? It won't work if you're unable to take it seriously.BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -

That's true... what kitkat said is helpful as well... I found the NCT classes really good (and a lot more well-rounded) for the confidence thing as well.
Also recommend 'Your Body, Your Baby, Your Birth' by Jenny Smith, and 'Ina May's Guide to Childbirth' by Ina May Gaskin...0 -

When do you need to start with the hypnobirthing stuff? I think I might give it a go as I'd like to avoid too many drugs if I can (but I reserve the right to change my mind on the day!
)
It just keeps getting better with the NHS. GP just phoned, she's been on to the hospital and located the letter that was supposed to have been sent out. But the drug the consultant wants me to have is "specialist only" and GPs aren't supposed to prescribe it! So now she has to track down the consultant and find out what the hell is going on. And Lord only knows what the drug is going to turn out to be - they said Heparin, but the GP had no problem prescribing that 2 years ago when I needed it for my blood clot.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -

Sorry but that bit just nearly made me wet myself I laughed that hard. I think I could take it seriously, but it would take a hell of a lot of tries:rotfl:
