I hate the idea of birthing centres.. they are far too restrictive.. 37-41 weeks.. 4th pregnancy or less.. waters broken less than 24 hours.. no bleeding or breech or anything else.. and the main unit is practically an abertoire! and the next closest hospital with a decent unit is 45 miles away so there is no choice.

I am surprised there is ever anyone in the birth centres!

    1st RLT successfully downed:D It was alright!:p

Bean either really liked it... or hated it as he went a bit crazy in there!!:rotfl:

Found out today (nene this might interest you) that only 1 of the birthing pools in my hospital is in action because of good old "health and safety"!!! Not the hospital's fault for once but the health and safety people:mad:

Soon ladies won't be allowed to be pregnant or give birth because of the "dangers";)

PP I see what you mean re birthing centres I want to have bubs at one but only because it is in the main hospital so if there are any probs it isn't miles away which is what happened to my sis. If I can and have a choice between main labour ward and birth centre in same hospital, would rather be in the birth centre. There is no way I would have bubs in a birth centre if it was miles from the main hosp.

Is HOT again, look forward to the rain on wednesday. Been for a swim which helped cool me down but warmed up again. I hate this weather!!

urgh, FGS! Did they say what health and safety risk it was? Hopefully I'll be the only one wanting a birth at the time and I'll have another night time birth :D If I don't have a water birth though I won't be too fussed. Atleast I can say I've done it once :D

    Thanks though

    Spam reported!

I'm having a birthing centre as the idea of hospital makes me feel ill. If it were up to me I would have it at home with just me and OH and the cats but as none of us know what we're doing we thought we'd best get some professionals - although we are both now realising that we would probably be just as well on our own. It appears I'm the only one who ever reads my notes!

Our birthing centre is attached to the main hospital so if it all goes horribly wrong (why would it?) I'm in a ward in minutes. I'm putting a lot of faith in millions of years of evolution working in my favour - surely my body is designed for this, why do people treat pregnancy like an illness?

Had awful hip and lower back pain on right side for last few days think its just an old injury giving me grief, hoping it doesnt last til end of pregnancy.

Been to boots today and got some more baby bargains, got sz 3 pampers midi nappies 36 pack £1.50 last pack in there, teether for 75p, some tommee tippee steri disposable bottles 5 pack for 75p, method baby wash - 75p, simple baby mosturiser for 58p and 4 packs boots sensitive travel wipes for 20p each and pack 2 dummies 6mth plus for 75p.

Something to do with the hoist... which they have to have in an emergency. It has to be able to lift the weight of an elephant out or something but it doesn't!:rotfl:

Midwives are fuming as 1 - there are no ladies who are that heavy and 2 - the hoist has only been needed about once!

I'm not happy as knowing my luck it'll be already in use:mad:

Smartie - the really annoying thing is that if your BMI is over 35 you cant use the birthing pool anyway so it is only gonna be normal size people using it. Although people with a BMI of over 35 are still allowed to use a bath at home, but not a big one in a hospital I love health and safety. (my BMI was 49.6 and is now 43.8)

You what!! So what if they can see you're not an elephant. for the love of god. H&S gone mad. I'll see what the midwife says on the 27th. Hopefully they'll have it fixed.

As long as I get more gas and air this time again i'll be happy :D

Was good stuff last time and all that I needed :D
