kitkat, there are 2 types of JSA one is called contribution based, and the other is income based. get him to phone jobcentre and ask. but still put in the surestart application, they can only say no!

I don't know how you manage it Pigpen with 'nearly' 9 kids! I bet you work 24/7 anyway!! A job just wouldn't be worth the hassle, I know I work with someone with 4 kids and he is always having to pop out/ take days off/ bring kids into work and he is lucky the manager lets him. I bet it would be almost impossible to do this is any other job!!

Being made redundant is the worst thing, this is what happened to OH and I am sure he has never recovered from it properly, he was so down when it happened. I did tell him to ask about the healthy start vouchers but he forgot, he said he would ask next time he goes :)

KH's employer was pretty good about it tbh we were lucky in that respect.

you have to get the form from the MW for the vouchers.. and post it off

    Afternoon all

KK like others have said if you and your OH have contributed to the 'system' then I think it is fair and right that you take from it when you are in times of hardship. I think the main gripe is people that don't even contribute in the 1st place.

Went to docs again this morning, gave in my sample and have to wait a few days for it to be sent off and see if it is infected, rather than me take something that says do not take if pregnant - the joys of the medical profession who know best!!

    Hi everybody

I'm angry so will have a rant first.
I went shopping with mum to the supermarket and as it was quite crowded and busy I actually stepped to one side to let an old couple with a trolley pass who seemed to be struggling as everybody else had pushed past them.Instead of a thank you the old man looked at me and my bump with a nasty expression and loudly tutted that "I had another on the way".
I did stop and shout back that this is my first and most probably only child , not that it was any of his business but both went into helpless old couple mode and other shoppers were staring so I left it at that.Saw them again a bit later and really felt like having further words but mum told me to leave it.Ruined my morning.

    Ok .Now advice please
Have to take own milk to hospital if not breastfeeding ,If i buy the readymade cartons do I take my own avent bottles or buy the steri-disposable bottles or is it better to buy the ready to drink sma versions which are already bottled?
Cant believe I will be a mum next week.

Thanks also Sir M :) I do know a lot of spongers around here and I can promise all of you I am in no way like them! I have never claimed anything before, never lived in a council house as I feel like I earn a wage so therefore can pay abit extra to rent private and feel like council houses should be there for people in hardship.

Dreambirdie: I am TOTALLY ADDICTED TO COKE! Pepsi is no good, it has to be chilled coke, preferably in a can! I have never been like this before! I try to limit it to a couple of cans a week as my teeth have very weak enamel!

Slm: So glad your appointment went ok, I have quiet periods with bubs and the more I worry about it the more they won't move! Then all of a sudden I get kicked to death! The MW said that the baby is very restricted at the moment so movements will be slightly less, but obviously i need to keep an eye on it! Can't believe how wedged in my belly this baby is!

    Blimin spongers!!:mad::mad::mad:

    ;):p:rotfl:

I forgot to pay this months council tax installment (due the 1st) and we got a scarey red letter:eek::o They didn't even send a reminder/warning letter!!? They now want full amount within 7 days. Surely people genuinely forgetting (especially pregnant ones;)) should get a helpful reminder before they get nasty???

Gotta love the old cronies who think they are beyond anyone saying anything back.. we have an evil old man here in one of those mobility scooters.. ignorant old f***er.. I've had several run ins with him.. not least when he threatened to 'run over' my 2 little girls who both have mobbility problems and need his scooter more than he does.. I had someone in stitches calling him Davros a few weeks ago.. Just think.. never mind they'll be dead soon and the world will be a nicer place for it!!

I'd get ready made bottles.. you won't need many unless you are planning on moving in :p
