sir monster, apparently you can pay for a private room in ours aswell, but if you dont need to stay past 6 hours they dont let you stay!! i think i ill throw on some tears and beg them to let me stay i dont even like hospitals but the thought of going home with a brand new wee baby is scaring the sh*t out of me. ive never babysat or been around newborns before so i really really dont have a clue.
must remind myself to discuss this with midwife at my next appointment as its freaking me out a bit

I'd like to clarify, I'm normally in bed till around 12 and I normally sleep like the dead. I'm also normally bone idle when it comes to house work, like i said, my hubby normally does most of it. But I just cannot get back to sleep if I get up around 8:30 and I can't sit still.
I bought a pack of big primark knickers yesterday for my hospital bag £2.50 for 5 pairs.
I'm hoping to BF purely for money reasons, but I'm not going to kick myself if it doesn't work out. I was FF and I'm still here, I think you do whatever makes you happy.
KitKat I just had my heart set on my 3D and there was never going to be anything that lived up to it, I'd be blind to any faults when we were looking, lol

Dream you may find after the birth you will be glad to get out of there they arent the most comfortable places to be in with a baby. If you have any concerns though express them i doubt they would send you packing if you are really worried and need a bit more support to get you started :-)

I know scares me too as I just checked and I could be on my way 2 hours after birth . I have 5 nieces/nephews and have been around them in terms of visiting but not looking after when newborn. Do you have any antenatal classes/looking after baby you can go to as I plan on going to hospital ones and have paid for some NCT classes as I think I would be a nervous breakdown.

xmas i really hope they dont send me packing lol. im finding myself secretly hoping i need a section just because i know they let you stay for 3 nights after. thats how bad ive got about it, i mean i obviously dont want to have complications or need to have an emergency section, but im just so nervous about going home with the baby that soon. im know im probably just being stupid but its starting to really play on my mind!

yes my antenatal classes start when i am 30 wks, they are 6 2hr sessions. im going they set my mind a bit more at rest. OMG 2 hours thats even worse than mine then!

when i gave birth to my first i had never been around a baby at all let alone changed, fed or bathed one. Some how i knew exactly what to do. mothers instinct they would call it i guess. the nurse showed me how to change a nappy the first time but that was it.

with my second i was hoping to stay overnight for a little peace and quiet and rest but they shipped my off home probably 6 hours or so later. i am sure it would have been sooner if the doctor doing the checks hadnt been so busy.

Also found that with my 1st they wanted to make sure i was breast feeding ok before they got rid of me. We then proceeded to tescos to get the formula on the way home as it was not for me. With my second i bottle fed from the begining and they didnt care but i think this has something to do with my early departure.

if your mind is set on BF please do not worry if it doesnt work out. i know so many of my friends that have been dead set on it and when it didnt work out they were extremely down and depressed. its not for everyone and i have a lovely healthy ds who was completely bottle fed. This is just my little opinion though :)

lol pigpen i wish i felt the same as you about it!!

slm im going to give BF a try but its no big deal if it doesnt work out. to be honest the main reason for me trying is i think im too lazy to make bottles etc up in the middle of the night, would be so handy to just pop baby on the breast for a feed. but like i say if it doesnt go well its not the end of the world.

Honestly dream you will be surprised at how naturally everything will come to you once you have the baby in your arms ive only ever met one woman who really didn't have a clue and even she managed to muddle through. Sounds stupid and you will probably feel a little daft but get yourself a doll and have a practice with the nappies and the bath thing i know its not exactly the same but at least you will know which way the nappy goes and how to get the clothes on with out breaking the arms off ;-) x

think I'm the same, the 3d has always been one I keep going back to :) I keep looking at other silvercross prams but some are a bit out of our price range! OH just said he might take me to Manchester this weekend to look :) it's about 2 hours drive but should be good!

I'm also only guna try BFing as it's cheaper!

Thanks for the heads up about the big knickers, I can't wait to get some!

Oh btw, got home and OH had cooked the chicken and washed up :) we're making slow progress!
