Like cabbage patch kids!!!!
I loved mine...Raina Camellia she was called..
I loved mine too! He was called Willie Caleb
Names are really hard, ultimately IMO you just have to name them a name you like and stuff everybody else. You will never please everyone anyway. With DD we named her an unusual name but it can be shortened to a 'normal' name if she chooses to. I grew up with an unusual name and it has never bothered me, I liked being the only one in school.
My DH just vetoes every name I love, but then has literally no suggestions himself. He did say that ultimately it was my choice as I have done all the hard work, but I don't want a name he actually hates.0 -

Sorry, I'm just very careful as my Aunt was born with the initial ARS :rotfl: childhood was not pleasant for her when her peers learnt naughty words:p
I don't think I mind my initials being slang for knickers :rotfl: lol
All of the names so far I have considered are initials TIK or TOK :rotfl: how typical is that?!?!
This baby seems to have permanent hiccups today, it started this morning when I woke, carried on until I got to work. Started again 11am and has been on and off since, maybe I am not eating/ drinking right?0 -
names are difficult to chose, my surname is a J im not having a name begining with a B no bjs in our house, we have a aj she gets called that by dh always not her name, ds a hj now we are having a dj
:D:D
ive been to midwife i wish she would help a bit more, i have to decide where to give birth home, midwife led unit 5miles away or main hospital 30 miles away but nobody will give me an answer to where i should go, its because of spd which is a lil better these days midwife said its because bubs is engaged :j:j:j i know it doesnt mean labour is iminent but its going in the right direction
anyway midwife said its my choice but you have to get a big baby out of a small hole :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: sorry but i was giggling like a child when she said it how does she know how big my hole is :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: she ment because my legs can only open to 45 degrees but it made me and her laugh
but i still dont know what to do:(
You can give birth laid on your side or on all fours and your legs won't need to be parted at all!
You can start with the intention of staying at home.. and trasferring to either the midwife led unit or the main hospital should you feel the need.. they won't turn you away if you need their facilities!!
I have some intention of going to the hospital 70 miles away.. probably past another 10 on the way that I won't even consider!
Personally I'd be much happier away from all hospitals!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

What pigpen said!
I was going to say you can give birth in lot's of positions that don't require you opening your legs past 45 degree angle. If you say you want a home birth and then once in labour/ early labour change your mind then the MW led unit or hospital will take you, but you can't (technically) do it the other way round.

**confuzzled** wrote: »re baby names:Snap!!! Boys names are sooooooo difficult, we've come up with billions of girls names but only the one boys name and even that one I railroaded DH into agreeing:p
If you do name the baby with a C/K name pls pls make sure if they have a middle name it doesn't start with a vowel!! Could you imagine Chris/Kieron Oliver KitKat?!?:rotfl:
as for the job...with you going on ML I'm sure they'll see how good she really isn't and might even offer you the job on your return:)
SNAP for me too........ Boys names :mad: soooooooo hard to agree. DH wants something really old fashioned and horrid, i want something not silly and new that he will hate when older but something nice too thats different!
Girls names sortedmost people think im having a girl anyway so that would be ok

This is almost exactly what I was going to say:cool:
I found being on all fours(or at least leaning over something) the best, takes a lot of pressure off your back that way:) and as Pigpen says, you barely need to open your legs at all.
I was going to ask if you would consider the midwife led unit first, with a view to transferring if you really 'needed' to:)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
We found choosing girls names so much harder than choosing boys names.....We haven't exactly settled on a boys name this time, due to being told it's a girl but we have a couple we sort of like:)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Re names I will be having bubs with a double-barrell (mine and his) I know some people don't like this but if he takes just DH's name anyway it is unusual so will stand out. This will end up with a 2 syllabul surname as we both have quite short names (thankfully!!). I was reading in a book last night that if you have a short surname, have a long name and vice versa with a long surname. It also said with a 2 syllabul name have a 2 syllabul first name as it compliments it.
I have found the mumsnet name finder useful as my bubs will be prime minister so will have to name him as such!!

I want something traditional that probably will get shortened (like joseph, edward, william, francis etc).Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces
