  • I also had real probs with my maternity jeans so I have recently bought braces from Claires for a fiver and they are great for holding up the jeans or trousers with side elastic. HTH

Gill how on earth are you managing to walk that far at nearly 40 weeks? I only live about a mile from work and feel like I'm going to expire by the time I get there. It feels like bump is going to fall off.

Confuzzled, thanks for the linky, will drag my hide to Lloyds tomorrow to get some!

I now have a tidy kitchen, clean bathroom and a tidyish living room. I can live with OH coffee table and the mantlepiece being a bit messy. Just waiting for him to get back from a Health and Safety test he's got to do then we can have the curry I bunged in slow cooker this morning.

I think work actually kept me really fit - I'm a retail manager so would be on my feet for 7 hours a day, running round like an idiot a lot of the time, until 35 and a half weeks. I'm also fortunate that I have a broad, strong build so my bump isn't as big and cumbersome as it could be!

ETA I couldnt have done much walking while working full time....I have the rest of the day to recover now that I am a lady of leisure lol

Gill, I'm on my feet at work too (joys of shopwork aye?) and have a fairly strong build. I find I'm getting puffed out a lot quicker though, which I think is part of it cos I feel knackered. It's definately a good thing though that you're so active, it's meant to make labour easier (fingers crossed ;))

That is another myth.. nothing makes labour easier. I used to do 3 hours of school runs a day with a double buggy and spend all day running from one thing to another.. 3.5 DAY labours here!!!

Toned muscle suports baby better and means you usually bounce back from delivery quicker.. BUT it makes labour more intense usually so it just hurts more!

Gena if you want to sleep on your back just pop a pillow under your right butt cheek this tilts you slighty left which will prevent the baby from crushing the main artery :-)

Thanks for this tip, I'll try it tonight! I never used to be able to sleep on my back (was mostly on my front which I know I can't do now) but I've been getting back ache recently and sometimes feel its the only way to rest it. I'm also resigning myself to sitting in the boring high-backed chair rather than my usual slouching on the settee.

Michelle - I've wondered about breast pumps too, I'll probably get an electric one although I have no experience of either!

SirMonster - I wore my bump band to work for the first time today, I love that it makes old clothes usable, although I still get changed into my comfy clothes the minute I get home!

    evening all

Hope gilby is having cuddles by now.

I had a decentish night's sleep and even caught an earlier train to work that I have being...good job as it was a mad morning and I never stopped til I left for a meeting across London at lunchtime. Cooked a lovely dinner and now deciding what to do this evening. I'm running a training day tomorrow which will be tiring, will be on my feet all day.

I need to sort out car insurance too, runs out in 3 weeks...sure it can wait til tomorrow!!

    Hi everybody

Was just wondering how many packs of maternity pads should I pack for hospital bag, got a packet of boots maternity towels today and they look enormous and I would much rather prefer nightime alway with wings or the ultra slim maternity pads?
Also should I pack dettol wipes?
    Love can tame the wildest
  • Had a midwife appointment today - not good- lost my bloods last time so needed more, they lost the their notes so had to write more out. The most worrying thing was one midwife said the baby was breech and the other one said it wasn't but they couldn,t come to a definate conclusion:(. Oh well back in 3 weeks hopefully baby will be "at the surface" next time so they will be able to tell - i will be in a total panic if they say breech que lots of bizarre yoga moves  etc. On a positive note at least I was measuring spot on for dates.

Hope everyone is well -I walk to walk everyday as well Gill its getting tough now though at 32 weeks

I have 3 packs of huge maternity pads.. mainly because you can go through a pack before baby arrives just with your waters breaking. I also got a coupe of packs of the slim maternity towels... I'd pack one pack into the bag.. you canalways have a spare pack or 2 at home for OH to bring should you need it!

    You don't need dettol wipes!
