hahaha i must be such a bad doggie owner as i hadnt thought at all about what will happen with the dog while im in labour, he will be left at home he will have water & shelter i dont expect to be in labour for days but if i am dh will be popping home for clean clothes ect

oooppsss havent yet thought about where my children are gonna go :rotfl::rotfl:depending what time im in labour it will be my sis if late at night then she can give them to my auntie in the day until my sis gets home from work then she can have them back, best i check if thats ok :p
but my plan is to have baby at home or local birthing centre, labour starting at 9.30am baby delivered and home by 2.30 in time to collect the children from school, oh yes and 7lb odd will do :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

no seriously the next verse i would think about socialising or training the dog now before the baby comes

bexta- he he! My little girl looked teeny when she was born, then they unfolded her legs she was sooooo long it was comedy! I reckon this one will be the same judging by todays measurements. If they get their dads looks they may well be supermodels, however if they take after me then more like, a face for radio :D

Smartie- what a rude, ignorant b****!! It makes me mad that people think it's fine to speak to people in such a way- I hate rudeness so much, but poor you feeling all hormonal too! Grrr! I am really bad about personal space at the minute I hate people even being near me in a queue or something but I know it is just me being unreasonable and hormonal, god forbid anyone actually pushed me I would prob break down/ flip out! :)

As for the dogs, I'm with redmel and xmas on this, as long as it's basic needs are covered it will be fine for a day or two. I would also be concerned about the territorial tendencies of the dog, if it's not OK with a friend or family member, then how will it be with baby? could you find someone willing to do it and spend a few weeks acclimatising the dog to their presence, may help it cope better with bubs if it has had to get used to other people first.

Labour vibes to you overdue/ due date ladies (or thems like me who would be happy to have a slightly early delivery :D)

Owww :( Just had my first dose of heartburn. Hope this isn't going to become a regular thing.

Can't offer any advice on dogs when in labour, but this has got me thinking about what we'll do with our cats. They'll have access to the conservatory where we always leave a bowl of water, and there's always the mice in the field out the back if DH and I are away for any length of time ;)

Big bird - just put a big bowl of dried complete cat food down for them, next to their water:). Good thing about cats they generally eat until they are full then walk off and sleep and only go back when hungry again....Unlike greedy dogs who would eat until they pop:cool:

I would love to go into labour on a school night, so two weeks today would be great....at 8pm have baby delivered by 2am at the latest:D That way all the kids would be in bed and I would still get some sleep before sending the older two off to school in the morning:rotfl:

OH is working away the week leading up to my due date, I've got as far as asking my mum to come stay with me so that if I need to rush off to hospital in the night we don't have to wake the kids :o

If it all kicks off when OH is away in the middle of the night I hope to ask my neighbour, who is lovely for a lift!

DS's school is being replaced by a brand new one and goes back for one day after summer hols for a look around etc... then proper school starts on MY DUE DATE!!!:rotfl:

I would love bubs to arrive in summer hols but if it's during school time:

Feed cats, DS goes to school at 8.20... POP TO HOSPITAL AND PRODUCE A BABY... get home for 3.30 for DS, feed cats, cook a roast and put the washing on!:D

This looks something like my birth plan (without the going to school bit).
We've moved out while I have literally the whole top of my house ripped off and redone - loft conversion with rear dorma, new staircase, new bathroom, new ensuite, all rooms upstairs reconfigured, walls removed on landing to make open plan etc etc. It's a nightmare! We're in OH's old grotty rented house at the minute and we move back in July when I'll be over 7 months gone. Then everything has to be decorated top to bottom, new carpets in every room, baby's furniture assembled and everything cleaned. Oh, and we're buying some old land at the side of the house so that will need to be walled off.
Where will I find time to have a baby in all this? :rotfl::rotfl:

Oh, and my cats are being left until OH is able to get back to feed them but we're only 10 mins from hosiptal. Cats are self sufficient and will be fine for 24 hours or so as long as they have water. Dogs on the other hand, I don't think you can leave them for a long period, it's just not fair IMO. My dogs were always part of our "pack" albeit right at the bottom, so I would start now getting them in the habit of having "their" space whether that's a shelter outside, the kitchen or whatever. As others have said if your dog is territorial you need to think of how you'll get it to accept another member of the family who will have to be above it in the pecking order. Maybe OH could bring something that smells of baby back before you bring the baby home.

Unfortunately, one of the cats would eat until he popped! I have no doubt at all that if we did this he would scoff the lot and the other one would get nothing. As BudgetBlonde says, cats will be fine for 24 hours or so (it's not something I'd do often but they're both big lads so missing a meal or two won't do them any harm on the odd occasion)
