Thankyou CAFCGirl. I will have a look in m&s when i go to town. I tend to have problems buying bras with been a big cup size. We don't have a peacock where we live, but i will have a look to see where the nearest one is, then if there is one near i could get dh to take me one weekend. I like shopping, sounds like you got some good things.

Edited just found that there is one in Leeds, will mention it to dh.

MoneySaver - That one was a set of 2 from m&s, just the standard non underwired as opposed to maternity ones. I think it was £12 for the box of 2. If you have one nearby though, and they stock the maternity stuff, can really recommend the Peacocks Nursing bra, £4, looks pretty, undoes easily for feeding and really ruddy comfy...

Obviously back from town...... i defo dont think i should go out by myself anymore LOL totally overdid it, obviously forgot anything i bought I'd have to carry. Hit some of the charity shops in town and was finding loads of books for DH. He likes a few authors so I kept finding ones that he hasnt got yet, and at like £2 a go or less, seems silly to not buy them LOL
Bought myself some fat knickers WOOOHOOO my butt might be covered once more, got a nice overbody bag ideal for going out with baby as I cant be doing with a shoulder bag with pushchair etc. And got fathers day cards, thankyou presents for parents for helping us so much with baby, and also found some good baby bits in charity shops as well, just clothes but the right size for the season when he's born. Kept thinking if it was nice and hot summer im gonna struggle, and at like 20p a go..... doesnt matter what he does to them, but also picked up some brand new bits still with tags!

but still got totally exhausted and it was raining but i had too many bags to put up umbrella, and couldnt sit down on any of the benches etc as they're all wet, debated going to starbucks (craving a coffee now) but it was packed......

oh bought some munchies as well :) shhhhhhhhhhhh noone else need know about th 2 packs of oreos or the 4 pack of mars bars :)

Oh and KK - Its perfectly normal to panic about it, I had the same thing. Just keep a list going of everything you have got, whats essential that you need to get and then a list of things that would be nice to have. Ideally you pay very little for the essentials and get the wanted bits for free/gifts :)

    Congrats BSM

Been for my 24 wk appointment with the midwife today. Baby is fine:j and didn't seem too concerned about all the surgery/drugs etc I had so thats put my mind at rest a little.
Been to do a bit of baby shopping today but the shops in our town are really pants for unisex clothes - did get some plain white ones from M&S and then boots had some vests half price.

Sure Start Maternity Grant - Can't get my head round this. We get well over £545 in tax credits but we don't get working tax credit. Are we entitled to it does anyone know? Everything I read about it just baffles me.
Also, where do you get the form from? Printer not working so can't download a copy.

ok after being productive..... and exhausting myself.... I've hit a wall and had a break down.... and now cant stop crying....
Wealth is not measured by currency
  • Surestart grant - I'm also confused, we get £45 ish a week with one child ( because my estimated income for this tax year is down, before April we were getting £10.50 ish a week, after baby is born we'll be getting £100/week because we'll have 2, one under 1) does that mean we qualify ??
I think I'll apply and see what happens but it does seem quite confusing - why can't they just pay it automatically if your tax credits entitle you to it ??? That would be too easy

You should be entitled yes. You can get a form from your local jobcentre, or I suppose they may stretch to posting one out to you if you phone them:p:) Even if you are not sure if you are entitled then apply anyway, it is a relatively easy form to fill in.

Glad things are moving along smoothly for you. Last thing you need after that awful incident is a nightmare with the insurance company...
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • I've had a look at the Sure start PDF available on the internet as it states if you are getting child tax credit ( at a higher rate than the family element ) you MIGHT be eligible, the tax credit website quotes the family element as £545 pa, So does that mean I am or am not ??:think:_pale_:wall: I'm going to get the application tomorrow and fill it in, see what happens but it would be nice if the info was clearer for us effected by pregnancy brain
