I wander if anyone followed the 'boil kettle, wait 30 minutes and make up milk' rule, these people obviously never had to sit with a hungry newborn . But I'm rambling and I bet it's all changed since Joseph anyway.

    Lol, my brother does :p

He freaked out when he found out we were using the tefal quick cup to make his DS's bottles (sis-in-law stayed with me for 6 weeks over xmas, he came 4wks in). Lol, he then made a massive deal over it and made us saucepan boil the water and then let it cool for exactly 30mins before daring to let us mix it with the milk - :rotfl:he was a nightmare, his DS was already 6months old so not like a newborn at all. He was convinced you 'destroy the goodness in the milk' if you added water that was too hot into it. Poor baby cried relentlessly while waiting - never mind, he is a crazy overprotective daddy :D:rotfl:!

Me on the otherhand - i am pretty blaze about stuff like that, as long as basic hygeine is upkept then a few germs will do no harm. It used to drive me nuts when friends or family would run around after DD with a babywipe, wiping her hands and face every five mins, i was just like let her run/crawl around and have fun!!!

By the way the mention of Tescos has reminded me that they have the new Huggies Pure wipes on Buy 1 get 2 free

Makes a nice bargain, i prefer them to pampers (i use em to remove make up sometimes - Pampers, even sensitive always makes my skin tingle and burn, i have mega sensitive skin - Huggies don't though ;))

    Hi everybody
Redstarnie76-Baby is absolutely gorgeous so cute x congratulations

I recieved my tripp bag from debenhams online today so will start to pack my hospital bag-stupid question probably but after a c section do they allow mums to change into own pyjamas and freshen up a bit or will I have to wear their gown for a day?I'm asking because I remember when I woke up after my spinal surgery(I was only 15 then) I was naked only had a sheet to cover me, I think that scared me more than the fact that I was hooked up to so many machines in intensive care.

Visited boots and found a manual avent breast pump reduced to £10 with lots of avent bits in a lovely bag, thought I might give breastfeeding a try so bought it .I only need to buy baby toiletries and nappys now all my shopping is done.

I'm spending my hipg on a new handbag-it's my last luxury treat to myself before I turn into a sensible no bag buying mummy.I've justifed it by telling myself my health will improve by owning it as it will make me happy.

Good luck & happy vibes to everybody.

I wore my own jammies in theatre!!! so don't rely on having a gown!

once back in the labour room they came and sluiced me down and helped change if I wanted to.. TBH I was bleeding so much I said not to bother as it would need changing aain in half an hour! Best bit was the tube had come off the catheter so I was leaking urine all over the place too!!

Oh.. and don't count on being left in bed.. I was up after a few hours and in the shower.. and pain relief isn't necessary usually either.. I have had 3 sections and not had anything after any of them!! It is so much better than stitches on your faff!

I miss my handbags i have a cuboard full of them but i cant see the sense in lugging a nappybag and handbag with me :-(

I cant stand the anitbacterial brigade either it does my nut in do they not realise they are causing half of these bloody superbugs as we are bringing up a generation of kids with no immune systems so they get pumped full of anitboitics for minor bugs which then have no effect on the nasty ones its stupid. I swear if someone saw my DS1's hands when he eats sometimes they would have a coranary. Good old soap and water and basic hygiene is all thats needed in my honest opinion :-)

One of the girls I went to school with had a baby 2 years ago, and she spritzed her hands with those sanitiser gel things before and after having touched baby, and noone else was allowed to hold him unless they did the same thing...

God knows how many of those things she went through. I mean ok in certain circumstance, say like you've had to change a well filled nappy in the boot of the car when you're out kinda thing and cant wash your hands, but before and after picking up your baby, who has time for that!!!???
