Olipop - i put in the last day that i worked, even though it said "not the last day you worked" and then on the extra information sheet, I wrote on there I left employment on that date, and it wasnt my maternity leave date.....and gave a brief explanation.

Im the same with the helplines. Ive tried twice now, about asking what date i want my MA to start, and they're like well what date do you want it to start, and I said it says to phone you if im not sure.... and im not sure....

Oh dear, I've just stumbled on a new site to play with. It's called 'nameberry' and is all to do with baby names. There's something addictive about those damn naming sites.

  • CAFC - Thanks i will do that too then, God knows why they have to make it so confusing, im guessing you are the same as me then in that you have left employment but qaulify as being 'recently employed', have you sent yours off then? I noticed it says you can get it for 29 weeks (same as SMP) but no later than the day after baby is born so i guess you should just name a date between now and due date to start getting it?

Yeah I just pulled a date out of my backside in all honesty.... LOL

Its not sent off solely because I have to find my payslips LOL Its all done otherwise. It is quite possibly the most stupidly written form though.....

I left employment in november, so met their criteria. Its so funny though because the question "Did you leave employment to have this baby" - I was really tempted to write on the additional information "Not through choice. My employer was a bully, who emotionally abused me and the workforce during my time there, and despite being sent for emergency scans, and being signed off work sick through extreme morning sickness, my employer threatened me with my job security and so I decided not to continue to put my body and baby through that unnecessary stress, stuck two fingers up at hime and walked. And to proove what a total !!!!! he is, he withheld my final wage until march (despite leaving in nov) and only sent it to me because im threatened him with legal action"

But I figured maybe that was too much information LOL

I think you can claim up to 3 months after the birth, but you lose money if you do, i.e i dont think they backdate it.

    Manky children!!

DS1 used to eat slugs, snails and anything gross.. he once ate head lice from the head of a girl in his class and was regularly found sucking the dogs nose!! He has never been ill in his life!
DD1 never ate anything gross or got dirty.. she was constantly ill
DS2 just liked mud.. He was never ill but regularly needed worming
DD2 ate (and still eats) anything in sight.. has a cast iron constitution and is never ill
DS3 had a taste for dried dead slugs and beetles.. gross but nourishing as they were the only things he ate until he was 3!
    DD3 .. ditto DD2
DD4 .. had mucus issues and would eat copious amounts... dirty child.. she didn't wear clothes from being 14 months until 3 she was always filthy and covered in snot and has never been ill.. we called her Stig!
DD5 .. grossest child of all.. troll baby.. ate DD4's poo from the potty.. played with dead birds and slugs from the garden.

I once caught them playing with a half dead mouse.. poor critter had been mauled by the cats.. then.. knowing mice are dirty the children had washed it with lavendar soap so it smelled nice and was clean so they could play with it!!

Last summer they squeezed a dead mouse into an empty pop bottle and watched it decompose.. I left them to it, it was very educational!!

  • Aw CAFC thats awful, some employers are such w**kers, you are much better off out of that environment much better for you and baby. Im a little similar as although my main reason for leaving was to be SAHM with DS we knew we were trying for a baby, in fact just found out shortly after i left that i was pregnant, and i didnt want to go through another pregnancy in that job, it caused me endless amounts of stress the first time round (think pregnant woman expected to work 14 hour shifts 4 days in a row in a busy restaurant on feet all day e.c.t) my manager took the P*ss and when DS was born with one kidney I just blamed myself thinking maybe if i hadnt been stressed out/working so hard e.c.t he would of been ok. Completely irrational but i never want to feel like that again!!

Oli - Thats almost exactly like my working days used to be, started at 6am, didnt finish till 7pm, boss said when we broke for lunch and what time we had to start back, not allowed to sit down at all, monday through friday. What made it worse was that it was called a "wellness practice"!!! All about teaching others how to live healthy, well balanced lives. Boss used to have a go at us for what we bought in for lunch as well. And even used to make comments about people's relationships, like telling me DH was selfish, unsupportive and I should reconsider my relationship. Oh that and refusing to allow me a day off to attend my grandads funeral.

Theres no way i would have survived there much longer, pregnant or not, but being pregnant and having lost first one, just made me sit up and realise, me, DH and baby are so much more important than anything else.....
And now im not there, doing most of the work LOL, his business is falling apart MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • DD used to try and eat our doggies fur...she also used to pull handfulls of it out - poor doggy, she used to whine and stay there till i released her but never once snapped at bubs.

Now if we(me and hubby) so much as stepped on her tail, mutley would turn round and snap - not bad, but enough to say 'oi - get off'
