Couldn't agree more xmas! Some of our relatives used to think i was nuts, if DD dropped something on the floor at home and ate it they'd be horrified - i was more like it's indoors, i do clean the floors you know, lol!
It's another reason we have all the pets (two mutts and a rabbit), i think as well as helping kiddies learn how to treat animals, not be scared and all it actually helps their immune system strengthen.
I used to play in mud all the time when i was little - Hubby used to eat dirt (as in plant pot dirt), ewwww - lol he says he was about 5 and loved the taste of it - he also used to eat grass....weirdo, lol! And he is pretty damn hardy - he never gets sick!
Oh BTW hubby passed his driving test last week, YAY first time round too! We should be getting a car, just something small like a Polo, at the end of the month. I so can't wait!!! Bless, he made a promise to bump (way back months ago) that daddy will drive him home from hosp - it wasn't looking likely but now looks like he might be keeping that promise, lo!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
I wore my own jammies in theatre!!! so don't rely on having a gown!
once back in the labour room they came and sluiced me down and helped change if I wanted to.. TBH I was bleeding so much I said not to bother as it would need changing aain in half an hour! Best bit was the tube had come off the catheter so I was leaking urine all over the place too!!
Oh.. and don't count on being left in bed.. I was up after a few hours and in the shower.. and pain relief isn't necessary usually either.. I have had 3 sections and not had anything after any of them!! It is so much better than stitches on your faff!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Lol.Thanks pigpenLove can tame the wildest0 -
im totally with the "it never hurt me" frame of mind regarding dirt etc.

cant wait until they're finished cooking in 8 minutes- even though i can eat loads in one go, i kid myself cos i mad ethem they're healthy!:j0 -

Really? I was opposite - i had to strip off and put on the gown before going in for mine, then was told to keep it on till next morn, they just let me put knicks (and pad) on under. But then again my section was done at 10pm. I was up and walking (or doing snail steps hunched over) the next morn though once they took the catheter out. They asked me to stay in a nighty for the whole of the next day so they could check the pad easily and coz i had to wear those 'lovely' DVT socks - i begged to go into pj's that night though and they reluctantly let me.
They were really strict on letting me pick up bubs though - not that they didn't want me holding her, just they kept reminding me i must ring the bell and they'd hapily pass her over. That said they did let her sleep on my chest each night which usually they don't. DD was hard work from the start bless her, she'd cry all night and sleep all day - but she'd be fine if i lay with her on my chestCarried on like that for about 3 months after too  she'd only sleep ON me.
Felt no pain though - they were fab on dosing me up on meds - just felt like i'd been stitched together really tight - hence a little hunched over but that didn't last long at all.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -

I had one at 4am, and was up at 9.. straight after breakfast.. had that one done in my t-shirt, had one at 5am and was in the shower at 11am.. and had one at 12 noon and was in the shower at 6.. clean for visiting and all!
I had not a single dose of pain relief after though the staff kept trying to poke them down my neck.. and noone ever checked the pads they just asked what the loss was like.
I had none of the injections they usually give, no stockings, no pain relief and I didn't even get asked to have the blood transfusion they said I had refused to have.. Hb was 5.1.. I did however get ALL my meals in my single room.. after I refused to leave baby unattended in the room next to the exit doors!! and walk to the other end of the postnatal ward which took me about 15 minutes each way.. how would I know is she had cried? I did just say fine I'll not eat..
and I was left alone to get on with it.. picking up baby, feeding, changing everything.. even the 2 that were in SCBU.. I would walk the 50 yards to SCBU from postnatal ward and deal with baby then shuffle back..
I am coming home the second I can stand unaided this time round.. if I have to discharge myself and the baby without doctors approval..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I was on a ward right next to the midwives room and must admit they were really nice to me. They did every thing they could (but then they prob heard the nightmare i had with the student or transfer midwife the night before - she got dismissed by the doctor, ooops). They came and sat with me alot just to chat and see how i was getting on (i was stuck in for 5 days) - held DD alot for me too if i needed a wee or a shower. I did get all my meals brought to me too though - they didn't make me walk anywhere. They took out my catheter and helped me change before visiting hours which was good - i'd have been so embarrassed otherwise.
I don't think i would have survived in a room on my own...i am really social so the fact of others being around even just for a quick chat or smile means a lot to me, i get bored and misserable on my own for long periods. But i understand why some would love it - a bit of privacy.
I am a bit lucky in a round about way with the fact i have been in hosp alot with this preg though - i have met all of the midwives on every shift change on the postnatal ward and they are all really friendly and like to come and chat. I think i'll be treated wellMummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
MGEB we live by the 5 second rule in this house if it goes on the floor for less than 5 seconds they can eat it. Although i do believe by DS1 thinks its a 5 day rule some of the life forms i have found in his toy box are vile i have to check it every couple of days now to make sure he hasnt forgotten about anything and i swear DD1 was a hampster in a previous life she likes stashing things away in her room too but she doesnt forget they are there thankfully :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Congrats redstar on freddie :j:j try to take it easy xx
Have been away for a night for a work meeting, was only an hour on the train from London but seem to be exhausted, think will have early night.
I think I have felt bubs kicking me, is like little bits of pressure under my belly button area over the last few days when I've been standing up and was a bit harder when I was serving up food (was chips must have known as me and DH are fans!!). I'm 17 + 5, do you think it is bubs or too early?
Also pumpkin patch has been and goneneed to rearrange delivery so we shall see what arrives.
