And do I need to take my own towel to hospital, or do they provide them? Im thinking of a water birth, although if he's breech, I'd at least like to part labour in water.....
I've also got cartons of first milk (in case bf doesnt happen), will I need to take bottles for this, or are they provided? And if so, do I need to sterilise the new bottles we've got? And how long do they stay sterile for?
I was in hospital so long last time I found their stash of bedlinen, although it was aimed at the babies really. So take your own, much less icky anyway.
As for milk, they didn't let us use own milk, as they don't trust you, so they provided little ready made bottles and sterilised teats in whichever milk you wanted to use. So you just asked for a bottle as and when. For home use, wash a bottle or two and if you need it, sterilise it then (no need to do all, as they are much easier to flog on later if unused). There's a politically correct answer to the how long question and a real mummy answer, they'll tell you everything in the hospital if you end up bottle feeding. I wander if anyone followed the 'boil kettle, wait 30 minutes and make up milk' rule, these people obviously never had to sit with a hungry newborn . But I'm rambling and I bet it's all changed since Joseph anyway.
At the end of the day, I bet you'll be home long before you need to worry about bottles:wall:0 -
Kitkat - I would phone and demand my money back, if they say it's valid for future orders I would say after the way I have been treated I will be going elsewhere in future, don't let them back you into a corner. They shouldn't really have banked your cheque if the items were out of stock. If you don't want anything else from them whats the point in letting them keep the money ( rascals !!)
Good LuckBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone, just about managed to catch up on the new thread. Still poorly, have been for nearly two weeks now. Im now 15 weeks and 3 days. Baby started kicking on tuesday, which is really nice. We went and bought a pushchair on wednesday from netmums. Its bebe confort loola in black. Its very nice. Also we bought a tiny love baby gym from a another netmum member and she gaves us a another mat and some books which was very nice of her.

I swear I need to write all this stuff down, Im always forgetting (so do forgive me for asking everything twice!)
And do I need to take my own towel to hospital, or do they provide them? Im thinking of a water birth, although if he's breech, I'd at least like to part labour in water.....
Starting to write up my list for hospital bag.... tragically I've already eaten the bag of starburst smoothie chewy sweets that I bought today to put in there LOL

With the baby milk, i would ask your midwife if your hospital does provide the milk. I know that hospitals always used to. But apparntley some no longer provide milk and you have to take your own. My midwife told me, one hospital that i was thinking of going to out of three doesn't provide milk.Married 09/09/090 -
Thanks MLSL, I think I will phone up, maybe tonight. Mite phones Tescos in a min as I still havent received my hamper voucher, and its been months as I registered with them when I was about 8 weeks preg.
Pumpkin gave me a tracking num, just tracked it now and delivery is advised as Monday! Feels like ages away! OH keeps saying I dont need it yet but I do! I blame pigpen for making her order sound so good!!
I am in the baby's room atm, it looks good now with the cot, changing unit and swing in placealthough I am now considering getting a new cot, this one needs a bit fixed on it, and i think by the time i do that, buy a new mattress and bedding i could have bought it as a bundle cheaper, and get a cot bed that wud last longer and keep for future babies
hopefully OH will take me to Ikea and toys r us tomorrow, feel like I think about baby/ baby stuff 24/7, I really must do his head in!!
