Yes its under the £6k mark cos that's why I have an exmeption certificate. I know that I can still pay NI voluntarily being on the certificate but need to know if it will count for higher MA or because I'm still on the cert I'd only get the £25ish a week instead *confused*
Hmmm, Don't know that one. I earn under £6k aswell but I just thought it was easier to just pay NI as it goes towards a pension when older (Yeah I know, what pension)
Annoyingly I have to complete a tax return but I just found it easier to understand. Why not give Revenue a ring and see what they say about it.What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -

Just found this out, dunno if this helps:If you are self-employed and do not have a small earnings exception certificate, for any week covered by a Class 2 NI contribution you will be treated as having enough earnings to result in the standard rate of MA, payable at the end of the week covered by a Class 2 NI contribution. This means that:
- From 7 April 2008 treated as earning £130.20
- From 6 April 2009 treated as earning £136.73
- From 12 April 2010 treated as earning £138.75
If you are self-employed and hold a small earnings exception certificate, you will be treated as having earnings equal to the MAT at the end of any week covered by your certificate. This applies even if you pay a class 2 NI contribution for a week which is also covered by the certificate. Send this certificate in with your MA claim form.
Rates of MA
If you satisfy the employment rule and the earnings rule, you will be entitled to MA for a maximum period of 39 weeks.
The amount you get depends on your gross average weekly earnings. You will get the standard rate of MA, which is £124.88 a week (from 12 April 2010 ) or 90 per cent of your gross average weekly earnings, if this calculation results in a figure which is less than the standard rate of MA.
If you have paid Class 2 NI contributions at the end of each week in your 13 week earnings period, you will be treated as having enough earnings to receive standard rate MA.
If you hold a small earnings exception for at least 13 weeks in your test period and you have no other earnings you will be treated as having earnings of £30 a week (equal to the MAT) and receive a weekly rate of MA of £27.00 (90 per cent of the MAT).What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
No decorating for me today:p but I'm going to try to empty bedside cabinet ready for bedroom reshuffle.
Our bedroom is shared between 3 of the childrens rooms at the moment!!!
There is a wardrobe, 3 chests of drawers and the bed in there all in the middle of the room.. OH is sanding the walls as I type.. and once the dust has settled I am off to vacuum the dust and scrub the skirtings.. I only have 1 to pick up from school today so I may just make a start on the undercoat while OH goes for her.. I have this mornings sicker off.. though she has barely coughed since.. and it watching carp on the computer.
I am going to examine carpets in the morning.. 4.5m x 4m .. so not a small room.. and I need to buy purchase the wallpaper and gloss.. I want at least 2 coats of emulsion ontomorrow.. it is blue at the moment but will be cream so it will need a few coverings I think. I'd get a cream carpet but both OH and I are very messy so we are getting a coffee colours one.. or maybe red.. I'll see what I like best in the shop.
Friday, I am getting any last bits of emulsion done and the gloss and the wallpaper can be done Saturday.. there is only about 6 strips and it is easy enough.
Problem is.. DD2 is home Friday and her bedroom is full of my bedroom!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I love searching
By the looks of it you need to get rid of the certificate ASAP as even if you pay the contributions you will only be able to get £30 a week and not the £124.88.What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -

ETA: Smartie whens your next scan???
My 5th (or is it 6th??) scan is a week on Mon (the 17th I think). Some may think I'm lucky to have so many scans cos I get to see baby again... but cos I haven't actually seen all of baby I [STRIKE]shit myself[/STRIKE] dread each scan.
Hopefully this time we'll get to see all of bean (including man/lady bits;)), get a nice scan pic and I can feel a bit more happier!:)
Thanks nene for your help:) After having a google and getting a little stressed about what to do I'll just stick to the being on exemption cert and getting the £25 a week. DH gets enough money (not bragging - honest:p) so we don't really need the extra money plus it is a little bit naughty suddenly paying NI just to get lots more MA;)BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -

I went out with my friend who I've not seen for ages today, and suggested we go to peacocks because she was looking for jeans with a high ish waist and most of theirs are, so off we go and I pleasantly find they had some maternity clothes (and really flattering ones at that!) so I spent £43
not so MSE!
However it was all light stuff for summer and all i had was maternity jeans before
I was impressed to find they had the plain black/white maternity t-shirts 2 for £8!
How is everyone today? not had chance to read back!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
