dont get me started on that they only give them out in some schools that invite them in to do a talk to the girls in yr7!!! which for some is too late I have known many girls aged 8yrs start periods and actually do parent and daughter talks from yr 4 onwards just to prepare them but like a parent/grandparent/carer/oldersister there as support for the girl.0 -
Thanks for the hugs and kindness.
I feel a bit more positive today, stayed in bed until 1.30 then shuffled downstairs and onto the sofa. My new plan is to not even think about getting to August, I'm just gonna break this pregnancy down into tiny steps. So first step is bank holiday weekend = 3 days sat on my bum which may well do wonders for the pain as it's increased by movement. Next step is getting from Tuesday to Friday, Friday it's the weekend then I have my next physio appt on Monday morning so we'll see how things are.
I think one thing that's difficult about being pregnant in general is that everyone has an opinion on what you should/shouldn't be doing. Not in any way unusual to get totally contradictory advice within 15 mins from different people but when you don't know what you're doing yourself it's quite hard to deal with. I think in a way if I'd done something straghtforward like break my leg I'd know that I'd be likely to be out for a certain amount of time; the problem with something that's progressive like SPD you have no idea of where you'll end up. I could be in the majority of womem who have mild to moderate discomfort or I could be in the minority who end up in agony and in a wheelchair.
Gill - congratulations again on your young man and well done on that epic birth! He is extremely cute :AUpdating soon...0 -
24 weeks.. though babies have survived younger.. many hospitals refuse to even try to save them before this point.
It's very young though, and lots of babies born this early don't make it. I think once you get to about 28 weeks things look more hopeful.
By the way Pigpen, were you incognit_n_co on the less than 12 weeks? I really do have too much time on my hands don't I :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It's just her background and her general outlook seemed very similar to yours and she's vanished ... Hugs :A
I can't do f all at the moment and we're basically living in a shithole at the moment:o People are telling me I'm going to have to make sure I don't do anything now and relax... but sitting on my backside doing nothing sounds crap to me. I am going to have to go on maternity leave early... although I work from home BUT yesterday proved to me I can't be 30 odd weeks, feeling like shit and running around do a big order, getting it to PO or a shop.
Even feeding the cats this morning made me see "lights" spinning around:o
When it comes to housework maybe you can join me in setting yourself a little task or small list of tasks to do. Kind of "flylady" style but on a MUCH smaller level.
If you do go on ML early think of a hobby you could start, or start reading trashy romance novels!!:rotfl:
Oh and also join me in getting pissed off when people say "oh but it'll be all worth it in the end";)
Thanks Smartie. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time of it too :A I still want to hang on at work as late as possible because, basically, I'm a tight-wad. I'm a teacher and the Head has put some support into some classes in order to keep me in school until year 11 and 12 finish their exams which is when I turn 30 weeks. Thing is, we've then only got 5 weeks until the end of term which isn't that long (25 get ups) and then because I'm not due until either 18th or 25th Aug I get a month at full pay before I have to start maternity leave (unless babe turns up early) - this is over £1300 take home and I just want to be able to hang on to this if at all possible. It's money I've earnt and I'm entitled to but I have to still be at work on 23rd July (even if I have to have some days off along the way). I know this makes it sound like my priorities are all wrong but I want to earn as much as I can while I can because I don't intend on working full time once I do go back.
Does that make sense or do I just sound like a Yorkshire tight-fisted stereotype?Updating soon...0 -
Well done Gill - :j just read your birth story sounds like a long hard struggle but u did it.Mam 2 Big E Nov 4 & Little A June 10:happylove0

Glad you're feeling a bit more positive Courgette... and I totally understand about being a teacher and the timing of maternity leave/money etc:)
We're trying our best to clear my debts before bean is here so things will be a little easier for us.
CHANGING BAGS help please!!! I have no idea what to get it and didn't really think about one until I had a sudden thought last night that I would need one!:rotfl:I don't want to spend a fortune and don't care if it's not a "proper" changing bag.
It doesn't look like I'll ever get the voucher for the free Boots changing bag as Boots never ever seem to send me anything even though I've actually phoned in the past to check I'm on the mailing list!BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -
Courgette - taking it in small chunks sounds very sensible, my OH swears by one day at a time but obviously that's not about spd in pregnancy! And of course you don't sound tight-fisted - we're all on the mse forums so I guess we've all got reasons to be careful with money! Unless of course someone started out here, then won the lottery but didn't want to leave all the lovely people:D:D (not me - yet!). I'm planning to work as late as I can and will use some holidays rather than use more maternity leave as I want more time off afterwards - assuming nothing happens to change that plan.
Smartie - I got the Boots one and I'll use it rather than get anything else but you're not missing out on much. My friends recommended just getting a large bag that you like i.e. not one specifically called a changing bag - maybe something with different sections?0 -
hello all.....
no real baby news to report, aside from overwhelming need to be asleep. have had two naps already today.
Am starving and DH wants spag bol and I really dont LOL I just want a load of vegetables.....
re changing bags - we've got a retro old school adidas messenger bag, in green and I love it!its got enough sections in it for the main bits. I keep telling DH i refuse to have a changing bag full of loads of !!!!!!. My old boss makes his missus pack theirs with books, toys, camera, 3 different outfit changes, a whole pack of nappies, giant tub of sudocream, savlon, water spritzer (!?). I understand having all these things but for when they are just going out for lunch or to supermarket, it seems ridiculous....
And then of course if he buys anything, he makes her put it in the changing bag so he doesnt have to carry it..... which is something else I have beaten into DH wont be happening with us.....
Some men eh?!
Anyway hope everyone is having a good day. I've got the rest of the bits i needed to finish off our yard but just physically couldnt manage to get it done today, was too tired and it was too cold outside....:)Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

More fool her... I'd say 'not a chance dear'..
For nipping out for a couple of hours I put a nappy in my bag and a pack of wipes.. and occasionally and depending which baby it was a muslin square and a spare dummy.
If we are going for the whole day.. 2-3 nappies, wipes, muslin and maybe one change of clothes.. if I can be bothered.. usually the change is a sleepsuit and vest though.
I'd not take that much if I was going away for a week lol.. well.. maybe a few more clothes for a whole week..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thats my exact thinking!!!!
DH keeps going on about "but if we're out for a whole day" and as I keep pointing out to him, he and I dont even go out for WHOLE long days so we're even more unlikely to with a baby in tow and a puppy at home waiting to be fed and walked.....Wealth is not measured by currency0
