Smartie: duno if this is any help but when I was trying to move bubs into right position my MW said to make sure that when sitting/ bouncing make sure your knees are never above your hips, also slouch forward slightly. Not great if you have bad back though! Don't know if it'll help but my bubs shifted positions within a few days when I tried this!

Thanks MLSL, KitKat and Delain - I will have a look at the ipod touch, hadnt thought of that. Hubby has just said i could get a second hand iphone off of Ebay, so may have a look at them too.

As for baby clothes im really worried i havent got enough, im reluctant to buy much neautral coloured stuff as im scared it wont get used and i will buy pink or blue as soon as baby gets here.... i have 6 newborn babygrows and about 10 newborn vests and 5 0-3 months babygrows and about 6 0-3 month vests, 3 hats, 5 pairs of sock and 5 scratch mittens... a little jacket for leaving hospital and my mum is going to knit a few cardigans.... do you think thats enough?
My mum and sister have said they will go shopping for pink or blue babygrows and vests as soon as bubs arrives and wash them and bring them into me.

  • Evening all

Can I become the new pigpen :p please for going against stupid medical advice?? Just discharged myself as apparently my b/p was 'unstable' although it isn't really. Was admitted at 2ish by a registrar as b/p was up and down so increased my meds, got to the ward after a couple of hours taken 3-4 times and was down and stable, so was thinking why I am staying. In addition they did a blood test at 2 but still no answer (this all is helping someone with high b/p!!) and didn't see any docs until after 8. Basically said to him why am I here and he basically hinted to me that whilst officially he couldn't release me I would be fine and a lot happier at home. I am going back on Monday for assessment and if they want to readmit me I will insist on seeing a doc first as they always say doc will see you on the ward but they never do. So I am at home 'against medical advice' but a lot, lot happier :)

glad to hear you're home sir M - I'm sure being in there doesn't help the bp!! You're not stupid and know to go back in if you need to. I have a BP monitor it would be interesting to take it at home and see if it does get higher in hosp when you prob feel a bit stressed.

Our airer is full of baby clothes,:) about half new, half second hand - all white or neutral! the sleepsuits are pretty much all new but my mum bought them and they were v cheap - about £1 each which is cheaper than a lot of ebay stuff. tomorrow I will wash the 0-3 month stuff.

Do I need to take a towel for the baby to hosp?

Lol Rach you just reminded me I haven't packed a towel for the baby! Think I will take the smallest one I've got! Thanks for that!

I've packed quite minimal: if I go to local birth centre I won't need much but if I'm shipped off to big hosp I will need enough stuff for upto 5 days! Not packed any going home clothes for myself as I'm sure my OH can bring that for me, plus I'm bit short of clothes ATM and if I pack an outfit it means one less to wear (I could need 2 weeks worth of clothes with this lazy baby!) lol

Sir M: you will probably feel much better being at home, I'm sure hospitals make people feel worse most the time! Just take it easy and relax :)
  • Butting in from the Parents Thread :)

Breast Pumps - I had the CTN Manual Pump, I like it, it was easy to use. I then moved onto an electric pump when I returned to work, I had Medela Mini - which was OK but was a bit uncomfortable. I upgraded to the Medala Swing which was much more effective, you can control the suction.

I would wait though to see if bf is established first as other posters have said.

    morning everyone

I'm still feeling like rubbish, gonna have to phone in sick today and feel so guilty about it, but not much I can do, I'd rather be healthy. I feel slightly better this morning than yesterday but I know you can feel ok ish at home but dreadful when you get to work because of the lighting and being constantly on the go, not resting. Probably best not to pass on the germs today and hopefully better for tomorrow evening.

Sir monster glad your home, you'll be more relaxed there than in hospital hopefully x

Labour vibes to those in need, quick and painless as possible xxxx

Kitkat i would make sure your going home clothes are put to one side at home so OH knows what to bring you, when i had my DD i asked my ex to bring in my clothes and he turned up with skinny jeans and a most unsuitable top at least he tried lol :-)

Sir M i dont blame you at all for going home especially if the doc hinted you would be better off how sticking you on some hospital ward for ever and a day is meant to relax you i dont know. Hope things improve soon :-) x

I have 6 small draws full of baby grows and vests upto the age of 3-6 mths there are also a couple of outfits hanging up in the wardrobe i havent bought half as much for this one as i did for the last one as they just dont wear the stuff bubs still lives in babygrows now unless we are going out somewhere for the day. The baby grows and vests were a bargain though so i probably went a bit over board but i got the lot for £20 off a market stall in dudley and its all asda, john lewis stuff and all brand new just last years patterns :-)

  • Thanks everyone, I am feeling better being at home and will make sure I am checked out on Monday.

Can't seem to have a lie in these days, was awake before 7 again I suppose baby is getting me used to these earlier starts.

I think that having high blood pressure will mean unfortunately I will no longer be allowed to use the birth centre and may mean baby has to come early, but will ask the consultant on Wednesday as despite being in and out of hospital I don't have any answers what mine and baby's future is for the next few weeks.

  • Oh how I we had market stalls up here!! you ladies all seem to get such good bargains - nothing like it here at all.

I am not sure what baby stuff I still have from my DD's, we moved house last summer and up until that point I had kept all the clothes they had had. I had a clear out and got rid of piles of clothes - managed to decant from about 6 boxes to 1. I need to get DH to take box down out of loft so I can have a look.. have the urge to buy something for this bubble!. I know that I have boxes of baby stuff - toys and baby gym etc in the garage because they were boxed up ready for car booting - I just never got around to it - LOL just as well!

Merfe so sorry you not feeling great - it all seems much worse when pregnant too!

Kitkat - eviction plans - when I was over with DD2 I had a friend who spent a lot of time researching on tinternet for me! 1 suggestion was to have a swing on the swings at a playpark - something to do with the gravity - never worked for me though - nor did the see saw :rotfl:. Her other discovery was 'popsicles' made from a donation from your DH  now I am not sure if they are 'inserted' or 'ingested' I certainly never gave that one a shot!! but gave us many a laugh at the thought ever since!! its an alternative to DTD I suppose :eek::eek:

Oh and I also meant to say before - my plug with DD2 started to come away on the sunday and she never made an appearance until the friday morning - I was so disappointed I thought that that was the start!
