My booking in blood results were sent through the post, so I assumed the same with the rest. My 28 week ones did come back as GP phoned for them, but i've not had them.

    might phone ante-natal actually.

Am fuming as on my colleague/boss's request I sent a meeting invite to a couple of managers to do a handover just before I go on leave, one has just declined it, no mention of rearranging, or responding to my query about how I plan handover when I don't know who to handover too. Do people just not care?!

Thanks lilac, the registrar did mumble something about that this morning re keeping me until 37 weeks but that was without them checking the bloods. Her initial plan was for me to be released but to go twice weekly to fetal assessment unit and ante natal clinic. So looks like I may be queue jumping of some description (although not been told officially):eek: really didn't want an August baby!!

I am relatively organised have clothes, moses basket, car seat and push chair. Also did some washing but nowhere near what I woud like to be . .

Bunny is true re portion sizes ticked medium yesterday and large today but I think it was the same size :rotfl::rotfl:

Thing is getting me stressed is now all the family know I'm in hospital they all have their opinions, rather than just letting me get on with it . . also need to know what is going on re the bloods as getting info here is like a blood out of a stone

August babies are fine! I've got one ;)

It is a bit of a pain trying to organise birthday parties when all the other kids are off on their holidays though.

DH is an Aug baby and he reckons it was good for him.

I can imagine everyone has their opinions! They always do in my experience you just have to ignore them!

August babies are fine - I am one!! :rotfl: If it's school you're worried about, I only found out a couple of years ago that apparently I was supposed to be at something of a disadvantage due to being born near the end of August. Can't say I ever noticed. I was always in the top 3rd of my year group - though I wouldn't say I was particularly clever (maybe the rest of my year group were just really thick :p)

But really, don't worry about it. The important thing is that the baby arrives safely, whenever that may be, and that you are OK too.
You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.
  • good afternoon ladies, men, and bumps!!

rach i wouldnt bother worrying about it if they arent bothering their asses to rearrange it. my work is the same no mention of whos taking over from me. was working like a mad woman trying to get my work all tied up before i leave but to be honest i dont care anymore!!

tried to get the rest of the stuff for my hospital bag today, who knew picking some PJS would take so long :rotfl:

can someone tell me if they think ive missed anything my brain is not working!

    nightie - to labour in
PJs to get changed into after
    slippers
    maternity pads
    breast pads
7 pack of huge full briefs(proper granny knickers)
    face cloth
    bath towel
    shower gel
    shampoo
    face wipes
    deoderant

    for baby
    3 sleepsuits/vests
    going home outfit
    mittens
    bib
    blanket
    1 pack of nappies
    cotton wool
    baby bath

then i can just throw in my extras closer to the time such as magazines ipod etc.

omg i am so hungry today i cant stop eating and nothing will fill me!!

re bloods: here they dont send out your results or contact you unless theres something wrong. i hate it, i would like a little letter or phone call to say yes you are ok.

swetty beatty - im the same im of sick this week and it has been bliss. im so relaxed etc. although im still running about like a wee mad woman trying to get all the last minute stuff sorted!!

dream - you're so right, at the end of the day who cares?!

I think you probably need sleepsuits and vests for the baby, and also a hat? maybe chuck in a muslin if you have one.

also, some clothes for you to go home in. snacks for you?

lady told me the other day too that she takes a little plastic tub to put the water in for the cotton wool for the nappy change as the first time she couldn't find anything at the hospital!

think the only downfall with august babies (if your in england/wales) is they go to school a year earlier than september babies. My dd1 was due in September and her virtual birth club had lots of women hoping to hold out until september for that reason alone.

Sir M - one set of results mean nothing in the big picture, have they took more blood? You are more organised than I was. I can remember sitting at 32 weeks on that stupid trace thing with a mothercare catalog and OH marking out things and making lists for my mum and MIL to fetch for me.

Dreamie - I would take a 2nd nightie too. I didn't 1st time and had a PPH and needed a cathaterand the tube bag doesn't work with fll lenght bottoms so I had to get an NHS bum flashing gown until next day when OH had a chance to visit tesco. some sort of bra/support vest. my boobies hurt and needed the support. Do you need cotton wool, my hospital provides this. 3 sleepsuits fine for 1 day don't underestimate leaky meconium nappies or puke.

What I did was have 2 bags. My regular hospital bag and then i had the back up bag in the car boot with more sleep suits, undies for me bibs etc. I was going thru a bib a feed

My MW called me this morning (I've been chasing for weeks) to say that my bloods taken at booking-in have been lost and asking me to come in to have them re-done.

I'm now 18 weeks and obviously its not ideal not to have the info they would have given by now. The only thing I think maybe time-sensitive is Rhesus status - as don't they start with the first Anti-D around now, if needed?

At least it means I get an extra appointment and hopefully I can asked one or two questions while she is draining my arm again.

My 12 week bloods showed negative rhesus status and they never bothered telling me until I had a bleed at 17 weeks and then said "oh you should have had anti d" so yes, I'd get it checked asap. Having said that, if you've not had any bleeding or problems it's only a routine thing so no panic. My tip is wiggle your fingers when you have it as it burns a little and the movement keeps the nerves occupied.
    Good luck x

  • Am I the only person to take in baby wipes??? The expect me to faff with cotton balls they can blimmin well provide them:o
Dream how about spare pjs??? You may need them incase you have any leakages and end up staying more than 1 night:)

*proud Aunt moment* August babies....my nephew is one and is top of his class:D:D:D He was born 31st August and has never had a problem being behind in class, he didn't even have the staggered induction they normally do for the younger ones when they start school...but think that has more to do with my sister being cruel than anything:rotfl:
