You were sure enough to do a quick edit.
You complain about nearly every type of benefit & I dig out the fact you receive Tax Credits...
Sorry, where was my edit???
I haven't complained about "nearly every type of benefit" (the list I gave is a very small selection) - I have complained that the people, who contribute NOTHING to society are entitled to these free handouts, when other people - on low incomes, struggling to make ends meet and working for virtually nothing are given nothing and are effectively worse off for trying! I personally can't wait for the day they scrap tax credits, the tax credits i used to get, is only the government giving with one hand and taking back with another....unlike those who don't work and don't pay "tax" but still receive the credit for not doing so
I fully believe there needs to be a system in place, for those that are vulnerable, the other half has walked out, have been made redundant, have become il etc- but i in no way shape or form condone the actions of the people in the link or similar!0 -
To be honest I don't think any benefits structure will completely solve this problem... It would need to be so complicated that any savings would soon be swallowed up.
Many European countries have benefits systems, but vastly lower birth rates... its all down to society and culture, which cannot be simply changed through government legislation... this is what I mean by education... it cannot be done overnight, but losing the American consumerism influence would not be a bad thing
Sounds like an argument for Socialism....The UK needs to take a leaf out of Norway's book and start investing in its people..0 -
Thankyou, a perfect example of why education and not legislation is needed

You receive a benefit. The fact that a word "tax" is applied to it is neither here nor there. Not Again0 -
Great post Pobby well said! Plus public housing took a beating under a Tory government.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0

I`m gonna say COOL IT! The way I see things is it easy to bash that lot that the OP has posted about and rightly so in my opinion, however I think that many here in the UK are just hacked off with the place. Labour, the lying toads, and before I go on, i used to be a member, have lied blindly.
If you believe that Brown could bring an end to boom and bust, well you were daft. I did believe that he would not let the housing market get out of control. Pretty much in his hands. They lied. Blair took us to war and a fat lot of good that is doing. Without a mandate, Brown stole from pension funds.
Labour has devolved people of personal responsibilities. No wonder that people use the system to get what they want. Britain is a busted society, has been gor a long time.0 -
Quite a vile thread in parts with some very nasty 'name calling' style of posts and some typical internet forum posturing !!! You guys are really tough behind your keyboards - haha !
The sad thing is a lot of the posts have taken away the point of the thread, which I believe was intended to show how shameless these people are taking benefits at our expense for their own ends and not as a means to get back into work.
It also shows how attitudes have changed over the years from 'taking care of your responsibilities' to now 'let everyone else pay for us' - how times have changed !
I do hope that this family are in the minority but am worrying more as the years go by that they aren't !Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
A simple solution is to have reduced payments for children say beyond two this would still avoid absolute poverty while causing less incentive to have more0

I'm not talking about education people to sit exams so they can become managers and earn lots of money, I'm talking about creating a change of culture... remember, we had a sense of community here once!0 -

The sense of community has long gone JoeyG - lots of reasons for that (I'm not going into them) but in this day and age there are too many people on the take from those of us working for the 'common' good. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0
