  • morning all,

well I've got to update my budget already as I have just found out that OH has withdrawn money from the bank this morning. So much for his I just need a bit each day. hes taken £40:mad: So I have decided that I am going to treat him just like a child and check what he has left every day. dont care if he doesnt like it, I have decided that I need to keep a much closer eye on him otherwise my budget just will not work!

    OH spends = £25.00 per week = £100.00 - OH had £40 - monies left £60.00

weather not looking so good here today, bit overcast, hope it brightens up later. DD has got to see her orthodontist later, shes not looking forward to that! lol

    have a good day x

Can you persuade OH to open a pocket money bank account. A very basic one which only allows usage of the cash point and refuses to hand out cash when hes run out plus one which doesn't have overdraft facilities? Perhaps when the bank machine says no he'll get the idea.

You know thats never going to happen Moo Moo, his habits are ingrained, JC's signature block speaks for itself, and she is to be congratulated for facing the problem and trying to resolve it.

Meanwhile Mr JC sticks his head in the sand and ponders whether he can afford a new motorcycle on credit and takes out half of the weekly budget to spend on god knows what. If his bank machine said No he would grab his credit card, when that said no he would find a way to dip into the family coffers.

I have always been of the mind that if you have a hundred pounds, set aside the majority of that for the kid, Mr JC appears to see himself as the kid, and to be honest he may be right :D
  • hiya moo2moo,

its a lovely idea and a good one, but unfortunately I think BLT is right. a) I dont think OH would go for the idea, he doesnt like the idea of being treated like a child although he acts like one! and b) once that had run out, he would either use his cc as BLT suggested or, he would probably ask me to use my card:eek:

Its better that I keep a close eye on him myself, at least this way, I know whats what.

The other reason that I got really annoyed about last night that I forgot to mention was the fact that I am due to get a promotion (fingers crossed) at work in July. That brings with it a pay rise (not massive, but I aint complaining! lol) and do you know what OH said? He said, well ok then, I will just wait until July and then I will use your money! flaming cheek!!!! So I stood my ground and said no way! I am going to put the extra to good use (if I get it) and it will go on reducing debts and thats that!

    Hey JC,

Good to see you standing up for yourself, that's fab :j I really hope your OH doesn't ruin your good work with money otherwise it'll just be draining. I still think you should concentrate on your own debts and not his - if he maxes out the CC then tough, he can't spend on it and then hopefully he'll realise that he has 'NO' money!

Sorry rant over, it just bugs me that you are working so hard and overpaying his CC to which he then just spends again

Stick to your guns with being assertive and standing up to him - hopefully he'll realise that you mean it.

    Have a good day x
