There have been quite a few discussions on this thread in the fairly recent past about packaging in the light of the postal charges changing and packets having to fit through slots so it might be worth having a look back or searching the thread. I seem to remember someone had bought thin foam and others use bubble wrap and brown paper so there's quite a few ideas out there.
Good luck with the selling

Thanks Teapot.
When I sell on Ebay I often use those grey self-seal plastic bags, like the type catalogues send clothes in, as they're strong, very light and much cheaper than jiffy bags. I'm hoping to use these with bubble wrap to save on postage but I wonder if the package won't be rigid enough to stop the book getting bent. Does anyone have experience of using these?Swagbucks earnings since 22/05/2012 £135 paypal cash

I use these self seal plastic bags and foam (Viking) and if I have a thin bendy book I put a piece of card in with it.
For books bigger than A4 I use bubblewrap and an UNopened bin liner, I use lots of parcel tape for these packages.0 -
I use the foamy carpet underlay or bubblewrap, plus Morrisons garden sacks cut to size and parcel tape. Have had no problems yet! Sometimes wrap in brown packaging as well. With a printed label they look smart enough and they are the lightest possible.
As mentioned before I cannot get hold of cheapie jiffies. I have had a few which have gone through the size guide in PO which is a real delight!!!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Where did you guys buy your weighing scales, what make are they and how much did you pay?
All the half decent scales I see on ebay are going for 40 quid+.0 -

I bought from Argos but they are wildly inaccurate. The general concensus on the Amazon seller board is that these are the ones to get:

Ooh wish I'd known that. Have bought some cheapie ones from Argos but if I'm weighing bigger books I can't see the display!0

I picked a nice set up at a car boot for £2 - batteries included - "Lloyds Pharmacy nutritional scales" exactly like these ..... http://cgi.ebay.com/NUTRITIONAL-ELECTRONIC-SCALES-LLOYDS-PHARMACY_W0QQitemZ330023885981QQihZ014QQcategoryZ50419QQcmdZViewItem
Spot on every time and have even saved me postage by being able to let me adjust packaging to reduce weight before I go to PO. [I calibrate using 2x£1 coins which weigh 9.5g each so x2 will be 19grammes ... also useful for a sneaky weigh test now and then on the digital scales in the PO to make sure they are true!!]
They were on offer a while ago for £7.99 - dunno about now though - maybe worth a look.
Lidl had a set of digital scales last week for £8.99 with a flip down [or up] weigh platform ... wall mountable to keep them off the work surface and looked ok - they may still be in some stores ... worth a look?Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:

Has anyone had experience of posting an Amazon Marketplace purchase to Australia.
A punter is interested in a £40+ cd boxset I have for sale atm but I have only ever dispatched within UK, but would like to consider his request to post to Australia.
I wondered if there was a particular RM service preferable.
I understand that Amazon will credit me with £3.20 postage allowance.
The package would be classed as a small parcel and weighs 600grammes.Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:

Hi snax, the 'small packet' rate to Oz for 600 grams is £6.28, there is a 'printed paper' rate which you might assume is cheaper buy it's not, it's £6.51.
The set is a great price!0 -
Whine Whinge Whinge its been so quiet for me this week.
Roll on Nov,Dec and January my busiest months of the last year.
They had a set of digital scales in a tescos extra I was in the other day reduced to 1/2 price they were 7 quid down from 14 must admit I was looking at them but decided to wait and see if they go to a reduced to clear price which will be 3 pounds odd then I will purchase and have them in my office.0
