Cheers AT did the above and found it, have emailed the potential buyer who of course may never check their emails but its worth a try
Just need a few more sales now as a bit nervous having handed in my notice at one job  Oh well0 -
Thought the old magic of the thread wasn't working, as nothing happened after my whinge, came home tonight, checked my emails and sold two!! :j However, after postage, not much profit in it - may even have to send them second class (which I don't normally do!!) One of the books was a penny book - there were 395 used copies listed!!! So it goes to show that if it is a popular book your time will come (especially as I only listed it last week!!) Maybe it is worth stocking up on penny books if only to try to produce enough sales to be pro-merchant... or is that illogical??!?! Charity shop near me sells paperbacks for 10p - usually avoid novels, but maybe not anymore!
I sold a book the other week where there were copies listed much cheaper than mine (well, about a £1 cheaper). Mine sold and the others were still there - so guessing for some buyers there must be something in the % ratings...
Annie - fantastic news!! Can't believe how quickly your stock has grown!! Do you have boxes of books everywhere?!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -

Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this post but wanted to say thank you for all your advice. I've been selling on Amazon now for a few months and am averaging one or two sales a week, which I am quite pleased with. Its something that fits in quite well around looking after my baby! The information on the first page of this thread is really excellent and much more informative than the Amazon website!! :T
I have just had my first return request though... It's within the 7 days so am going to offer a refund etc. I will be out of pocket but luckily it was only a paperback so didn't cost a lot to post.
However the reason the buyer wants to return is that they have recieved two copies of the same book, but only want one! I only sent her one, so she must have ordered it from someone else. She doesn't know if she's paid for two or not  I spoke to Cust Services and they suggested that it might be a problem with 1-click ordering, that the customer might have accidentally clicked twice, sometimes this is caused by the customer's webbrowser. Has anyone else ever experienced this?
Cheers, gt0 -
OH woo ! Problem time. I sold a book on amazon 2 months ago for £14.99 then I get an email yesterday from the buyer saying they have not recieved it ! I think its really strange that to only query it now. Also I was by the far cheapest person selling this book as I just wanted rid of it and felt the prices being charge for it were ridiculous ( about £20 upwards whenit only originally cost £12.99- in cases were the book is being sold for too much i tend to charge along the lines of the orginal price on the book ).
The buyer had a po box number and it was a college. I have the proof of postage.
Whats the best course of action to do as I dont quite believe them, why wait so long, I posted it next day and sent an email to say I had done so, am I just being paranoid ?
Also after this time is it still covered by the distance selling thing.0 -
Claim though RM, tell them to wait until RM have paid out. Tell them they will have to sign a declaration from RM saying they have not received it. You will soon find out if they are telling the truth by how they respond to that! A PO box sounds dodgy to me, was that their registered address?0
-
I am not sure about registered address as I dont know if amazon do that but it was a college po address and is a college email address too. Is it ok asking them to wait, as I know ebay have different rules ?0
-
If the address came from Amazon then that is what I meant really, they don't register addresses but they do require you to send it to the one on you 'sold item'.
And as for asking them to wait. If it's been 2 months then I don't see it beeing a problem waiting a little longer for them. And If they are just trying their luck they won't get back to you anyway!0 -

Thank you for the kind words about the first post, it's was started in a very small way in July '05 and then it has been amended and suplemented on a regular basis.
We kept coming across the same questions so the Q&A were added so that the people didn't have to wait for someone to come along and answer a question, they could find it for themselves a bit quicker. That's why this thread is taking longer to get to 1000 posts - there are less queries. It's good and bad, good because the answers to the usual questions are there for the taking but bad because less people come here, introduce themselves and then ask a question. so we don't get to encourage the newbies as much.
In answer to your question, I've never come across this problem before but from what I've heard this 1-click ordering can be a bit problematical for some peeple that are a bit trigger happy with the keyboard so maybe they really did order twice over....0
