Hi everyone,
I've had a longish break from amazoning due to our house move, but now that I've located my Amazon box (yes, just the one!) and located the nearest post office (miles away
), I'm ready to start again.
So, just a quick question: have I missed anything? Any major changes that I need to be aware of? Anyone here become an Amazon millionaire yet?
(Much as I'd love to go through the last 6-7 weeks' posts, I don't think I can)
Anyhoo, it's nice to be back and here's hoping for some sales!0 -

I get a lot of my books from the tip. A friend of mine buy bulk from the tip and sells at boot sales (Huge amounts of DVD players, Stereos and Video players mainly bound for Africa and furniture for the local market) he gets me boxes of books when they turn up and usually are great. So my advice is to get your butt back down to the tip and get them to set aside all the books for you and make them an offer. I pay £2-£2.50 per box. Good Luck!
Some dumped books will be ex charity shop, boot sale or jumble sale stock that no-one has bought, possibly because it's too specialised, possibly because it's junk. Such stock can sometimes be found in bins or skips after car boot sales, from where nobody usually minds if you help yourself.
Other stuff sometimes gets dumped without even trying to sell it first, and that's where the bargains are most likely to be.0 -
Hi GUYS
quick question - am I right in thinking that if you are a pro-merchant seller you have the ability to list books not in the amazon catalogue? If so can someone please tell me how - thanks0 -

Hi Annie
I've never done this myself because according to everyone on the Amazon Discussion board they very rarely sell anything from their zShops.
The way to do it is the same as when you list normally, except after clicking on 'List single items', you then click on 'Amazon.co.uk zShops', and then just follow the instructions thereafter.
Good luck.

Like a lot of people I have a pile of VHS tapes and cassettes no longer used, all in good nick. Looking them up on Amazon, only a handful appear to be worth a couple of quid each. My question is, do these really sell now? I might as well list them to see if they shift - but has anyone done well selling them?0

I listed about ten cassettes and sold one - I made about 50p after fees and P+P. It was still worth it IMHO as this was just sitting in a box in the loft.
As you know, there are no listing fees on Amazon so you may as well list them.
Videos are harder to price up as you need to make sure you're not going to make a loss after P+P - particularly bearing in mind the new pricing starting on 21st Aug!0 -

I'm feeling like del boy today. I had loads of books left over from my last auction lots that were too heavy to be worth listing on Amazon including a huge great Times Atlas of the World and several dozen unread Book club hardback books with no isdn numbers. I was wearing out my arms carrying them to the charity shop so I put a free ad in the local paper and just sold them all for £10.
If th ebuyer car boots them they should easily turn a profit, and i'm pleased as I made a profit and got paid for someone else to take them away.
Best thing was my OH saw them being taken away, and so he can't be cross now when I go and buy more next week.

can anyone advise me. I have quite a few old books mainly from about 1907 I have looked on bookfinder and they are all on there but none of them have ISBN numbers. So when I tried to list on amazon it comes up with no results. I have never done this before though I did read the amazon advice thread. thanksAnyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
