Go to 'your account' - top right hand tab, 'your seller account' - right hand side of screen, scroll down and near the bottom is 'update your vacation setting' under the section titled 'Your Seller Account'.
I'd post a link but I don't think it would work.

Recently I bought a double video of a children's story to give to some kids I know. The second video had quite a few episodes of tracking interference. My question is - do you think it unreasonable to expect a video to play perfectly?
I always check mine before selling and always mention if there are some minor tracking episodes, and then it is up to the buyer to decide to overlook them, but in this case the picture was quite blurred by complete picture interference.
I have contacted the seller and explained the problem, but I am worrying now that I am being petty and the kind of buyer we all hate to come across! I did not want to leave neg feedback, but don't feel I have been sold a very good item. I said I would be happy with a partial refund to avoid the cost of sending the video back etc. but feel I may be coming across as too fussy!
What do you think? Someone?

Evening all, I haven't posted on here for ages. A lot of my listings ended and I hadn't bothered to relist them. I now need to get back on track. I have listed a few bits tonight and I have a few sacks of books to get rid of as they aren't worth storing for all they will make.
I was at the tip today dumping some rubbish and noticed that the paper recycling skip had loads of books in it. I was wondering if any of you have got books from the tip? They were all clean as they were in with other paper rather than rubbish. Our tip has an area where they sell things. I was wondering whether to approach them about buying books but I didn't have the nerve. If you buy books in bulk without knowing if they a re any good then what is the max price you pay?Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
NETTYB3 wrote:Damn - What a shame it wasn't you I bought the book from!;) Well I sent her the book back first class at a cost of £1.14 and informed her that this is what it cost, but she has only refunded me the standard amount and not the return fee. I don't think that I could of kept it and got a refund because accidents happen - we are only human!! She only has 1 feedback so if I leave negative it will really make an impact and I am afraid I just can't bring myself to do it, even though she was rude in her e-mails and tried to tell me it was the one stated, even though it was a different isbn and cover (which I had pointed out). I thought as she only had 1 feedback and was obviously just starting out, as we all once did, I would give her a chance but it has now made me wary of people with low feedback.
I am not sure whether to e-mail her and cause a fuss over £1.14, but then again it is the principle of it that is annoying.

I've sold books under different ISBNs before now because all Amazon had listed was the hardback version, but I made sure that in the comments field when I listed it, it was clear it was the same book, but paperback and what the ISBN number of my book was. Not much help in your case with the postage and all, but thought I would put my pennies worth in as I am a very minor seller (I don't often get to car boots and the charity shop near us rarely has any good books!)0 -
Christina_F wrote:Hi just checking in - just returned from my hols this afternoon. have switched off my holiday settings so now need to see lots of SDN emails!
Whilst on hols i have decided to run this as a business and as such need to increase the number of books I have. Question is - once the car boot season is finished where do you get your books from? I have tried charity shops but they seem to be too expensive.
Hi Christina - where I live there are boot sales till mid december so I keep buying to the bitter end! if you've none running in your area any longer you need to keep looking at the local paper for jumble sales and nearer Christmas you'll see lots of school Christmas fairs, there are bound to be books for sale there and maybe if you hang around at the end of the day you might be able to negotiate a price to take them all away. Also look at your local auction houses too, ones that do household sales will have boxes of books on sale so you might just have to take a leap of faith and buy boxes of books that are mixed, good and bad.
A few people on this thread have bought bulk lots on ebay so maybe they'll be along later to say how it's worked out.0 -

A tip where they sell things? that sounds a great idea!
If you are buying blind without any certainty of success just keep a couple of things in mind.
Be wary of heavy books, I'd sooner buy a 'mystery' lot of small books so if they do turn out to be 1p ones then they are light enough to be saleable even though I'll not make much on them and smell them, stinky books are a pain to clean up.
I'd try to pay around 10-20-30p per book if I can't see them and inspect them properly.0 -
Thanks for the info AT - I think he car boots around here finish September/October. I am off to an auction this morning so will see what they have - couldnt make it to the viewing days as was on hols. Think I will go just for a nosey really - see what its like LOL!!
Could I ask another question? If you buy books from boot sales what do you do about a receipt? Just wondering because i am going to register wuth tax man as a business,
Thanks a lot0 -
I just keep a note of what I've spent and then when I'm home I write out a petty cash slip to show the amount and enter it on the spreadsheet with all the other expenditure0
-
Thanks AT - can i ask one last question before I go out - is it possible to print out a list of books you have listed on Amazon? I just want to do a quick check0
-
Yes, just go to your open listings page and print it out - if you want you can sort that list by price and date by clicking the links at the top of the columns0
