I have recently purchased a book from amazon only to be sent the wrong book! It has a different isbn number and cover. I e-mailed the seller and after a rather curt few e-mails back have now rec'd an address to send the book back to. Will I get my postage cost that I have to pay to send the book back refunded aswell?
Thanks
Netty
Hi Netty
As the seller has supplied a book with a different isbn and different cover (materially different) to the one that you purchased I would expect them to give you the money for the return postage as well as your original purchase price and P&P. The problem with Amazon's system is that the seller can only refund your original purchase price and P&P. A way around this would be for them to send you a cheque or a prepaid/stamped envelope.
The Amazon A-Z Guarantee scheme is in place to protect buyers and Amazon do tend to side with buyers. If you cannot get the seller to agree to refund all of your costs (including the return postage) the A-Z is there to resolve the problem. I believe that if Amazon do find in your favour you will get a full refund and not have to return the book. You may want to advise your seller of this.
This is the link to the relevant Amazon Help page http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/202-9632378-2627849?nodeId=3149571
If I was the seller in question I would probably tell you to keep the book and issue you with a full refund and an apology for your disappointment - I would then sit there for days with my fingers crossed that you didn't leave me negative feedback.
Good luck

HI all
Please can I ask for a little advice ? I am just about to try my hand at being an Amazon seller. I have a book that I would like to sell that only has 2 others up for sale, however they are in the USA. Both of these sellers have the books at VERY high prices. I have checked out bookfinder and can only find the book as available from the USA and European countries, no one in the Uk is selling this. So my question how do I price this book ? Somewhere near the silly USA prices and reduce if necessary or should I go closer to the European prices ? Any thoughts would be most welcome. TIA.

Hi Vanda
Very often the 'notorious' americans do not have the books in stock anyway. If they get a buyer they then try and find a copy elsewhere - and at those types of prices it is probably worth their while.
I tend to price close to the Americans if they are the only ones listing and sometimes higher as I have 100% feedback and from my descriptions a buyer can tell that I have the book in stock.
I do not see this as 'ripping off' buyers - personally I think I provide a very good service.
So, my advice would be list high and reduce at your leisure.

Hi all,
Tonight I have had enough of multiple listers. I have just sent this email to sentinel. I hope they sort this guy out and the many like him that ruin it for the rest of us.
I know that some editions or condition may differ, and multiple listing is then acceptable. But when they are exactly the same, it is just done to block us from getting on the front page.
I have a theory that some of these multiple listers only have one copy but block the whole page. Then when the copy they have is sold they remove the other listings.
This is what I have sent sentinel. And I urge you all to do the same if you see repeat offenders.
Hi,
Billmet13 has multiple listings of all the below. These are from the first 400 listings. There will be many many more. All these books are NEW and the same price. This is very off putting for other Marketplace sellers.
Some sellers are just giving up Marketplace, as they cant get their goods seen on the first page because 1 or 2 sellers have these multiple listings hoging the page.
Can you please do something about this seller and the others just like this.
Thank you
Matt

Just to let you know that I reported 4 offenders for multiple listing I indetified by reviewing just 8 of my listings (and we are not talking 1p books here).
Will let you know what happens.
Just seen the other post above. Hey if we all do this we might make a diiference!!

I've just had rather a nice result. I listed a book about 6 months ago to match the existing copy of £20, several other sellers came in at the £5 mark so I matched them. A few weeks back I realised i was now one of the only copies left, so put mine back up to £23 and sold it this afternoon. Woo hoo...
Soo
EDIT. Remaining three copies have all now shot up to £50 + and all from the US. I don't mind at all though as I really need a turnover from some of my books at the moment. It just struck me that some books are very volatile price wise, going up and down like a yo yo.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That sounds like it's been so long there isn't a complaint to answer, it's too much to expect someone to hold onto a POP and make a RM claim after so many weeks.0 -

So the books have swung between £5 and £50? yo-yo indeed!
I has a slightly less impressive turnaround with a book that was a pending ages ago for £10, I forgot to re-list for weeks, when I got around to it if had doubled in price, so editing your prices isn't always a downward slope0
