The Cd I listed as Good: There are a couple of marks on Cd but still plays well... I always test CDs and Video's just to make sure.Sale price £1.80.
The feedback i got was 3/5. The product arrived quickly. There is no denying that but the CD is scratched including the Case. The buyer did not e-mail me to let me know that there was a problem. I have e-mailed her 3 times saying that if she was not happy i would give her a refund, but i still haven't had a reply. of course she may be on holiday. what should i do?

Firstly, are you sure she is receiving your emails? It may be worth trying to email from a different account. Some ISP's are very 'spam' sensitive and bounce legitimate emails. I keep a 'gmail' account as a back up to my normal account just for this purpose.

I recently received a 2/5 because a book arrived damaged and I had not replied to the customers emails. When I forwarded my original reply (which had originally been bounced - and therefore not received) the customer was totally understanding and removed the feedback even before receiving the compensation from Royal Mail.

Once you know for sure that she is receiving your mail you could offer a full refund and to keep the cd if she removes the negative feedback. (I say negative because it reduces your % down from 100% on the listing page).

The second sale was a book. It was Listed as Acceptable. the comments were: Worn cover with tear at top and bottom of spine. Otherwise OK still useable. Sale price £2.60..
The feedback i got was 3/5 Book was not in a good a condition compared to the others & did take time to arrive BUT the sellar did explain why.
This buyer did not e-mail me to let me know that he was not happy. The next book of that title was listed as used from £ 8.36. Used Good. The book that he bought from me had clean useable pages. So why didn't he buy one of those instead of mine. He has not contacted me and i have as yet not e-mailed him to reply should i ask him if he wants a refund? I am only a seller trying to help get my son out of debt after Uni. Any help from you Guys would be appreciated. sorry for prattling on.

You have really been unlucky with these 2 buyers, hopefully you will have some nice feedback left in the near future.

With this one, I think it is worth trying Amazon Customer services first (Free Phone 0800 279 6620. Ask them to look at the description compared to the feedback and see if they will consider removing it because you did describe it accurately. Sometimes they do - but sometimes they don't.

If it doesn't work out with CS then try emailing the buyer, explain that the price reflected the condition which was clearly stated and ask if they would like a refund, explain that their feedback is affecting your business because it reduces your feedback percentage. They may remove it.

    Good luck with these two.

  • I'm not sure I'd bother with that customer again... he's left feedback. If he wanted a solution he should have made contact first. PLUS he failed to read the accurate description.

What possible good would it do to refund now... and does he deserve a refund?

    Hi Fay

In my opinion it is worth the refund if the customer has removed the feedback. That's the good thing with Amazon, that they can remove the feedback completely and leave you with a clean sheet.

Maintaining 100% lets you list at higher prices and still make a sale.

I've got a few Mills & Boon books to sell as well, but when I checked against the ISBN to see how many were already listed, there are already about 10-15 of each title listed, and from prices such as 1p. Is it worth me listing mine as well? bearing in mind I've not got a lot to sell and am a new seller.

    Advice is very much welcome!

    thanks.. Hels

    Hi Hels

If you can afford the space, then you have nothing to lose by listing them. Everything to gain if you sell them. Bear in mind you won't be a 'new seller' for ever.

    Happy selling

Thanks for your help. I do agree that they both should have read the listings
properly but it just got my goat a bit when they can't be bothered to contact me to resolve their problem.. well i am going to wait a few more days and then e-mail the Cd buyer to try and sort that out... I know the CD played perfectly cos i listened to it to make sure that it was ok, I might be taken for a ride with that one but will wait and see. The book one as you said he should have read the listing properly. It's just good manners to get in touch with the seller before submitting feedback. Thanks demented

Two points regarding your two cases and maybe something that AT should consider building into the main guide as a bit of a warning.

Firstly, a very high percentage of buyers never read the sellers descriptions so in order to avoid problems later and risk bad feedback its always worthwhile trying to contact the buyer before despatch to see if they noticed that the item was less than perfect. It not only puts them on notice but is also useful in the event that problems do subsequently emerge and you can point out to Amazon that you tried to contact the buyer.

Secondly, many buyers do not use email as a means of communication, they order books off the Amazon website but never access their email account whatsoever. Consequently, you see dozens of cases of sellers saying that they had tried to contact a disgruntled buyer numerous times by email to try and resolve matters but had never received a reply. Its simply the case that a buyer wouldnt even know. One answer in these cases is to see if they are in the phone book or if that doesnt work and in extreme circumstances send the buyer a nice letter to try and resolve the matter.
  • Amazombie - fair point, I have to go out for a couple of hours so I add the new bits to the first post later this morning.

  • Hi

Im after a bit of help!!! i posted on here last monday to say that i'd just had my first request to issue a refund for a Cd i sent out as it didnt play. They wanted the refund first before they returned the Cd, but after getting some advice on here ( thanks ) i asked them to return it.

I received the Cd this morning and ive just finished listening to the last of 16 songs!!! so it plays perfectly.

I appreciate that they have returned it (but obviously because they changed there minds or made a copy ) so i have to refund but do i refund the full amount or can i take out my postage and costs???

They havnt left feedback yet and i know i cant stop them saying what they want and it seems totally unfair that i have to pay out when they have changed their mind!!!

Any advice on what i have to do regarding the refund and feedback would be most welcome.

    Thanks
  • Hi corgi - that is so annoying, yes, maybe they did make a copy -it's a bit of a design fault with this selling on amazon lark....

As far as I know you now have to give them a refund for the amount that they paid you and then wait for the feedback - but as we've seen in other posts if it's unfair you can show Amazon that you've refunded and they will take your side on this.

FFM would say that it would be a good idea to leave feedback for them (if you haven't already) saying something on the lines of 'really sorry the CD didn't play on your equipment' so that if they weren't genuine about it not working the next unfortunate seller can see that this has happened before
