Thanks FFM, I might list them tonight, as you say, it won't be at a loss to me.
  • Hels - don't be put off by there being lots of the same book for 1p, the first page is rotated so every book gets a go at being on show, if your description is good you'll sell, recently I've sold dozens of 1p books that came from an auction box of about 200 cheapo novels, these all had over 100+ rival books on offer

Don't rush to be the lowest price. I did this at the start. Everyone undercutting means that eventually people end up losing money by time fees and postage are paid.

I now list most books at £1 minimum or 50p if there are loads of new at less.

I get a lot of sales where I am not the lowest price. I think buyers can be weary of people listing for 1p, as a lot refuse to send when they realise it will cost them.

Also when pricing in proportion starts, there will be even more people let down when the thick but light book costs them 50p more to send.

I think that over the next few months we will see a drop in sellers who list at 1p because of this. And we will see a drop in buyers, once some have been let down.

I try to list realistically and hope that good feedback will speak for itself.

Good luck to all fellow Amazonians.

    Thanks AT & MattOsprey.

I think I will list them for about £1 and see if they sell. Hopefully with 3 sales under my belt now, I might get some feedback!

Matt, you have a good point about being the lowest price. I undercut the cheapest seller on my CDs - there were only a couple of sellers for each of my CDs, and I am only selling my old stuff, not setting this up to be a business venture. I realise now that this may not be the best idea in each case, and will take your advice on board!

My post office lady says she does not think the new pricing will really affect the type of packages we send off amazon. I asked her what would be the difference on one of my books I was posting and it was either 1p more or less, can't remember? It seems that it is letters or small envelopes that are affected.

Don't take my word on this but this is what I was told.

    I've got a problem!

I've got an AtoZ claim against me for an item 2 months ago. The buyer hasn't contacted me about this before. In their claim, they say they went on holiday straight after ordering, and therefore won't have been in to receive it.

    Help!

    Hi

I have recently purchased a book from amazon only to be sent the wrong book! It has a different isbn number and cover. I e-mailed the seller and after a rather curt few e-mails back have now rec'd an address to send the book back to. Will I get my postage cost that I have to pay to send the book back refunded aswell?
    Thanks

A 185 gram paperback of 260 pages in a jiffy bag. Today will cost me 62p. At the end of the month it will cost £1.09. That is over 70% increase.

Please all be aware. The width to make something a packet is only 25 mm passing freely. This is a small paperback in a jiffy bag.

This is for 2nd class. And is only in certain cases. Some larger books you can save 50p.

So they are saying that it wasn't delivered?

If I was the seller I'd refund everything because I'd slipped up but your seller sounds a bit reticent, they don't HAVE to give you your return postage back, just your original costs but morally you should have it
