Selling your stuff on Amazon - Part 6- Advice for newbies in first post

Just when I had despaired of ever receiving a SDN email again, finally one pops up, for a book I swapped from RISI, and I only listed it yesterday, or the day before, so chuffed to little pieces with that!!
AT - holiday settings - I seem to remember mine took a while to kick in - going away and coming back, it was certainly over 24 hours, cos I was actually (nearly) cursing the sold emails, as I really didn't have time to post books out (and finish hubby's accounts, and do packing for 4 of us, and try and sort out my return to work!!)
Kat - reported a couple of those duplicated listings (one seller actually had 9 copies listed on one of the books). I've just checked one of them, and they have all been removed (and I am now on the first page - yay!!) So thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
Hope everyone's sales keep up/pick up (including mine!!)AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
Thanks for the advice - as its a history book, there may well be more interest in the next couple of months, so ill hold off any decisions until the start of october to give it a full chanceSee the stars they’re shining brightEverything’s alright tonight0

we are talking a £100 priced book here (the only other copy is £125), and its been on nearly a month, but going throu book finder, i can find copies in usa between £30 and £125
As there are millions of books on Amazon its possible that a potential buyer may only come along every five years so as yet its quite possible that not one person has even looked at your book so it doesnt matter whether its priced at £ 30 or £ 130.
What you have to decide is whether when a customer does come along which may not be for another two years will they be desperate enough for that book to pay £ 130 or will they just walk away.
Always surprises me when people list a book for a high value and then get upset when no ones bought it in a few weeks as though every book in the Amazon catalogue is being looked at every day.
Also, have you checked whether there are other editions/reprints listed on Amazon which are far cheaper? Many sellers forget to check that.0 -

true - i know the subject matter isnt normal reading matter, so i guess its that no one is looking for it at the moment.
and i wasnt upset at not selling it, i was more concerned that it is overvalued and whether i should price it lower
but i know there isnt other editions / reprints as i temped for the publisher who was also the translator and they went out of business not long after i stopped working there but they would still own the rights to the translated versionSee the stars they’re shining brightEverything’s alright tonight0 -

Quickish question.
I sold 2 dvds on amzon to the same buyer.Amazon have charged him postage twice , what is the best thing to do ? Should I refund him some of the postage or what ? Im not to sure as I am used to ebay where I can give a multiple discount.
I once bought two books at the same time from amazon marketplace from the same seller and they just posted them out in two seperate envelopes.
I would feel a bit of a crook doing this.
I also upgraded to pro just prior to the sale- so that was handy.( not had enough sales yet but I am hoping) .0 -
cat, when this happens to me I tell them in my thank you email that with amazon sales the postage allowance is taken into consideration when a seller prices up his items and give 1p books as an example, I then say that I think that it would be fair to give them a small refund as it was just the one parcel and refund what I think is reasonable.0
