I have had a very poor time for sales. One 1p book in two weeks! I hope things pick up soon. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?0

Only two sales this fortnight for me.One was a Cd and a mid-priced book so I've ended up with £15 being transferred to my account so better than nothing.

I sympathise Juno, my last payment was the lowest I've had - £3.37! Had a very quiet month, no sales since 30th June and then 2 this morning :j.
Both are self help/psychology type books, one given to me by a friend and the other I bought last week in a charity shop. It cost £1 which is much more than I would normally pay but I had a feeling it would go...... Mind you I've done that before and had some right duds :rotfl: After fees am getting £10.87 so not a fortune but it will help with the CC bills.cazmeg wrote:I have had a very poor time for sales. So, yes Cazmeg it has been a verrrrryyyy quiet month for me too - thought until 2day that it would be a whole month with no sales at allmishkanorman wrote:Ive just checked my feedback score and even though ive sold around 20 books now ive only got 6 feedback and one of them gave me 4 out of 5 for "being a bit pricey ?"
Hi Mishka, I've sold about the same amount and only have 1 feedback so far but it doesn't seem to matter too much as people do still buy, bummer about the 4 out of 5 but some buyer just don't seem to get the marketplace - if its 2 pricey then don't buy
Heres to lots more sales for everyone

I've just had a whole load of books finish so have been working through them to relist.
I always check current prices before I relist and I'm noticing a trend for silly pricing..has anyone else noticed this?
For instance, I have some law books, these are mega heavy likely to be in the £5-£6 region to post, yet there are sellers with them listed at £1.99 which means they are going to take a loss even if they are pro merchants. I wonder if it is the automatic repricing software gone mad, ie one lowers their price to £5 so another goes to £4.99 until they beat each other down to a penny without realising what they are doing? I'be taken all these books off and will take them to a charity shop as with several sellers perpared to make a loss I might as well free up some storage space for something more profitable.
I can't believe some of the prices I am coming across today though, it is very disheartening.

Soo, I know what you mean, if it's a new seller I email them to tell them that they'll be out of pocket but if it's an established seller there's not a lot you can do other then let them sell it at a loss and then every other book has a better chance.
There are a few unhappy Amazoninans on here - it may be quiet because people are buying their books at boot sales (yes, like us) so that may ease off later as they come to an end.
My cure to slow sales has always been to buy more in, it always works and I more than make up my investment - I don't know how it works but I find that it does.
I'm over the 720 item mark now and have had my best 2 weeks ever, there have been quite a few penny sales too, I'm changing my view on these now, I'm making up to £1 on some of them and the once despised penny book has been embraced and welcomed. If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from0 -
Is it posible for a buyer to remove or adjust or even add a footnote to a negative comment left in feedback.
Had my first neg - a 2/5 - really annoyed with the buyer as it is obviously a fault on the disc [which she now accepts] but the comment was accusing in it's tone and there was no prior contact with me, which would have allowed me an opportunity to help - even though she'd had the disc for over 3 weeks before leaving feedback.
I issued an immediate refund with apologies, on seeing the feedback and told her to keep or dispose of the disc ... find it hard to accept or justify as I have fulfilled all seller requirements to the letter - just want my 100% backkkkkkkkkkk :>((((((

Hi Snax
A buyer cannot change feedback but they can remove it completely. She will need to access it via her transaction page - if she has problems doing this you could give her the Amazon free phone number and let her ask customer services to remove it on her behalf. Tel 0800 279 6620
Hope you get your 100% back soon.

Thanks FFM ... here's hoping.
I have found the relevant info on Amazon for anyone else who feels hard done by ...
"How to remove feedback"
It is possible to remove feedback up to 60 days after you left it. You may choose to do this if a seller makes an effort to resolve a difficult situation after you have already left negative feedback:
1. Go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/feedback.
2. You'll be asked to log in.
3. After logging in, you'll see a list of your recent orders.
4. Find the order you want to remove feedback for and click the "View Order" button on the right.
5. On the next page, you'll see a "remove feedback" link.

It's only me whinging about the new pricing in proportion again!
I have been doing some random checks, and that along with some info from the Amazon discussion boards shows that we should be better off with heavy books, but may have to drastically rethink videos and CDs.
Any items that don't go easily through the letter slot on the new size guage, basically anything bigger than a small pamphlet in a jiffy bag...and by small the one I tried was 12 pages, will now be deemed a packet. The cheapest packet is 84p for up to 100g 2nd class, £1 for the same but 1st class. Therefore for a video that used to cost say 88p for 300g you will now be paying £1.39 and bearing in mind that the Amazon postal allowance for videos
before Amazon fees is only £1.60 it is going to be difficult to turn a profit.
It my well be worth having a glance through your listings to make sure any 1p books will still make a profit, and maybe to up the prices on videos, DVDs and CDs.

Certainly videos may now be uneconomical to bother with, even more so as they gradually die out like cassette tapes and 8 track before them - but unless your CD's and DVD's are in a thicker than normal case, then even with packaging they should still slot through the 25mm thickness limit for a 'Large Letter' ... mine do.
see here ... [requires flash] http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content2?catId=28900662&mediaId=29100662
Postage for a CD would then be 65p [was 68p] - 1st class ... and 55p [was 50p] 2nd class.
thicker items like some double CD's and perhaps multi disc PC games will fall into the 'Packet' bracket and the postage is increased here by around some 60p an item [over 250g]Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:
